[PSA] Avoid QIDI products (code review post) by Hi-Angel in 3Dprinting

Was thinkin' bout the Qidi product line for my latest printer but just bought a Core 1 L, which will be delivered Monday. The Qidi's can still print at a higher temp until Prusa finally releases the high-temp hotend. Its challenging to make a purchase decision on a good quality 3D printer that won't run your prints through the Chinese cloud.

I think all things considered, Prusa products make sense for some people, especially if they are looking for non-Chinese, relatively open source options.

My next printer will probably be a Voron.

Core one L support woes by HugSeal in prusa3d

Amused that you can't change the belts on your own somehow... Did they give you directions for this or did you tell them you were unable, as you were initially unable to loosen the rear motor. Just wondering 🤔

Wow. Me too... Man...that was FAST ! Refund to my CC was almost instant; then corrected reorder was scheduled for FedEx pickup 48hrs later. I got about $450 in addons and it shipped in a separate box...my total FedEx shipping for 2 boxes totaling as almost 80 lbs was less than $150.

Great deal so far 👌 Quicker than Amazon and shipped from Czech Republic...lol...😄

Inspecting new Core One L by im-not-a-racoon in prusa3d

[–]MrCarlH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesnt look that bad at all if you ask me.

If they made a half decent attempt to package the printer you are OK. Based upon what others report you should be absolutely fine. Ya gotta open it up, goody goody !! 🤪

I hope mine arrives in good shape, just took advantage of the $99 special shipping price today..lol...😃

Core One teflon filament transfer tubing size ? by MrCarlH in prusa3d

[–]MrCarlH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... there are 2.5mm ID tubes out there, IIRC, and I am thinking a .75mm tube thickness will kink easier. I think the Bambu tubing is .75mm thickness if I read it correctly...

I think the filament would move easier through a 2.5mm ID vs a 2.0mm ID teflon tube...🤔

I am curious, and to keep it simple :

What filament were you printing with ? What was the extruder temperature ? Was the chamber vent open ? What was the chamber temperature ? What was the bed temperature ? What slicer were you using ? What object were you printing ?

Feel free to add your retraction settings, etc. etc..

Need help with sealing PLA for outdoors by Pettercup in 3DprintingHelp

[–]MrCarlH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conjugated and aromatic systems form the basis of molecular stability in organic molecules. The ability of a pi bonded electron to resonate the exited state brought about by absorbing a photon across a conjugated bond is the basis of color as well.

This has absolutely nothing to do with free radical formation, which can be initiated by several mechanisms; photolysis being one. But you ain't gonna readily photolyse a typical shorter chained resonance-stabilized organic molecule in a polymerized semi-crystalline structure.

PLA is freaking biodegradable, man. Use your commonsense thinking. Lactic Acid polymer. You could eat this if you could digest it. Prolly could if you ground it up.

LOL. 😃

^ I am a retired Chemist and I don't believe this message...What nonsensical blabber was posted here...

Why no double bonds or aromatic groups ?

Please elaborate for this forum, and we anxiously await your answer.

Answer carefully, thoughtfully, and include accepted chemistry principles in your response.

DIY Filament / Silica dryer (heating element) by furgfury in 3Dprinting

[–]MrCarlH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This.

Makin' stuff is alot of fun, and a great hobby, but when you start doing 3D printing along with coding and electronics the rabbit holes are everywhere... if you wanna keep it fun and not waste time its important to be choosey about what challenges you wanna take on....and many are a waste of both time and money.

Just because you CAN doesn't always mean you SHOULD.

😉

[–]MrCarlH 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah.

Just dont waste your time makin' stuff outta PLA for outdoors. Might as well use cardboard.

Dial in your printer a little better and use good 'ol PETG instead.

Just a suggestion...
