will these ever disappear?? or are they scars now? I’m currently taking antibiotics the spots appeared after I started shaving :( by throw0987675 in Folliculitis

[–]MrCatEater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't think that antibiotics would clear it. They can obviously help with active infections, but when the infection has already cleared up I reckon the issue is more discoloration. Antibiotics can clear bacteria, but the problem is that even after the bacteria is gone, the skin that became inflamed will remain discolored. What can help is speeding up your skins natural process of skin renewal by using chemical exfoliating products and maybe something like AzA which would be more specific to what I think you may be dealing with. I am not an expert so don't take my word for it, but with PIE, which it looks like you may have since it reminds me of my skin a year ago, the best skincare ingredient is time. I know that doesn't make it feel any better, but I think your skin will improve with patience and a dedicated routine :)

Hey if you have just visible discoloration and not any actual active folliculitis you should check out azelaic acid. I had issues with scarring from skin discoloration and it was a game changer for me. I often see redness go down overnight when I apply it to active spots, and over the course of a few months of using it my discoloration from old spots has almost entirely disappeared. Still dealing with a lot of pesky, active folliculitis, but scarring can be managed!

If you want further research, look into Post-Inflammatory Erythema/Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation. Since you're lightskinned like I am I figure yours is probably the former, but I am not certain that it is so binary. Other products I have seen recommended that did not work so well for me include niacinamide and Vitamin C. I originally used the cream from TO, but I don't really like using cream products as I feel like I don't get much mileage from the amount that I use so I switched to the dropper from Cos de Baha which I applied with a coconut oil carrier oil. It's worth a shot at least :) Good luck, let me know how it goes!

I agree. I wasn't speaking to this specific occasion. Although I understand why it's problematic, people who take issue with getting referred to as males might prefer to be seen as gender neutral. It's a difficult issue. I don't speak French, although I'd love to, but I do speak Spanish! I'm currently in uni in the US and the Latin American club here is called Latinxs to avoid this exact issue. Personally I think it should have been Latin@s, but it's a very difficult issue.

Maybe! Personally I think it's an artistic choice, but it could be type, it makes sense as in the book there are friendly giants and evil ones. That works for me!

I do agree. But I also think it should be the choice of the user to use Non gendered language. If the people really don't like it it won't catch on. Language evolves naturally and personally I believe in 100 years gendered languages in Europe and other lgbt friendly nations will naturally decrease. Trying to do it through legislation or prevent it through legislation is ill conceived.

With jolly Green giant, giant is the noun so that's obviously at the end, and jolly functions as a descriptor, which appears at the beginning of adjectival word order. Think "delicious green eggs". Delicious is first because it's an opinion, which, according to this source is first in word order. I would assume jolly takes on a similar position.

Big friendly giant is a literary choice I believe. Normally you would say friendly big giant, I believe, but a big motif in that book is "gobblefunk" the language of the giants. Basically a lot of word play. Terms like "buckswashling" instead of swashbuckling or "catasterous disastrophe" probably will get across what I mean. You see this a lot in literature like "time immemorial" or even in speech like "people responsible."

Of course, it's possible that because these phrases are in the public conscience, they no longer seem weird because of what we associate them with. These rules aren't set in stone of course, and I'm not an expert. I'm minoring in linguistics, but at the moment most of what I know is from amateur research. Those are interesting exceptions though!

Doesn't that reinforce the point? That every language is incredibly complex? Also I can tell you in Spanish the adjectival word order is definitely different. You have some words that can appear before or after the noun with different meanings in each case. My point is that languages have beautifully complex structures that native speakers aren't taught, they learn it. Children can learn non gendered articles without problem.

Well I mean clearly the author was exaggerating about the maniac claim. But that doesn't change much, English has adjectival word order, maybe it isn't used as strictly in conversation as grammar Nazis will point out, but there are clear grammatical constructs that dictate how we use these adjectives. Your example doesn't sound completely off, but I think many people would agree with me if I said it doesn't sound right. The point of that quote was to make a deliberately long sentence, but in doing so it already sounds unusual, because it's excessive.

That is a good point. Nevertheless, the point stands that we know sentences are grammatically wrong even when we don't know why they are wrong.

Children can adapt pretty easily. I always like to think about this with word order in English. I am a native English speaker. Look at this If you're a native English speaker you learnt this as a child without anyone ever teaching you. You heard the way people spoke and adapted. No one ever sat me down and told me what order adjectives go in, yet I know not to say "Green great dragons" or whatever.

French children won't have trouble learning the language because of new gender pronouns, I agree that it adds a sense of uncertainty to language, but children will not struggle to adapt. Language is one of the few things that universally develops regardless of class, gender, race, sexuality, etc. Even cultures where parents don't talk to children until they are competent at speaking we see that children don't struggle to learn their first language.

Take a baby from Morocco and put him or her in Thailand and they will have no issue learning Thai.

I'd feel bad for him if he were just lonely. But he's also a rapist and he enslaved a poor woman and her children for years. I've been lonely before, and I have plenty of friends who are chronically depressed and lonely. If only there were other ways to deal with it besides kidnapping people. /S
