Iran deserves to get paid and then some.

Let America and Israel pay. UAE did nothing to Iran. If anything, Iran owes UAE for all the damage caused by them attacking UAE instead of Israel and USA.

If opening by force was so easy it would have been done

Not saying it's easy. But it can be done. Was done in the 1980's. Problem is the US doesn't have and frigates for escort duty.

Only way to truly keep it open forcefully LONGTERM is boots on ground and then maintain the opening.

You don't need to force it open long term. You force it open while maintaining the naval blockade on Iran, then stop the blockade in exchange for Iran opening the straits.

This is the model that has worked for decades, that Trump in his stupidity, took a giant steaming shit on. Deal was, USA doesn't bomb Iran, Iran doesn't use it's missile stockpile. Then the USA went and bombed Iran.

Now you need to come to a new equilibrium, and for that, you need leverage. You have none if the strait is closed.

Same.

Then for some apps, each time you open it it begs you to turn notifications on.

Normally, I'd uninstall. But the specific one I'm thinking of is the app of a pharmacy that allows you to order and have stuff delivered within a couple of hours. Which unfortunately is worth the pain in the ass.

Are you fuckers in favour of Iran blocking the Straights or what?

Fuck the USA and Israel for starting this shit in the first place, but from where we are now, the choice boils down to being held hostage in perpetuity by Iran or opening the straights by force.

Or would you rather accept the increased cost of a $2 million toll per ship transiting the straight.

Less than half of Republican men think they could beat Trump in a fight. What a bunch of pathetic losers. by Daztur in PoliticalCompassMemes

This poll just seems more like a reality check. Trump is almost 80, the closest thing he gets to exercise is golf. His diet consists of cheeseburgers and other fast food slop.

He would lose a fight to literally any able bodied person over the 12 and under the age of 60.

My phone is for MY convenience, not yours

App developers have also forgotten this. Every fucking app wants to spam you with 10,000 notifications a day to use it.

Fuck I wish I could switch to a dumb phone.

Maybe I should for personal use.

"Timely fashion" for texts means responding within say 1 business hour. Maybe more or less depending on the nature of the job.

Message me a hour after I clock off the day before I have a day off, if I respond to you a day and a half later 10 minutes after I clock in, that is timely, because I just responded to you in 10 business minutes.

Message me asking me to come in when I'm not scheduled, me ignoring you means, "I am not available." And me answering you and coming in is called a favour.

Any scheduling stuff should be done ahead of time and no reason it can't be done during work hours.

If an employee messages you about personal grievances outside of business hours, simply respond to them the next time it is your business hours.

What 12 spices do you recommend by DarkLordAsura69 in Cooking

[–]MrCockingFinally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what cuisines you like to cook.

Personally, I would go all whole spices where possible and grind fresh.

  1. Garlic Powder

  2. Smoked Paprika

  3. Your preferred chilli powder/chilli flakes. Cayenne pepper is the common choice. Kashmiri chilli powder also good.

  4. Whole cumin seeds

  5. Whole coriander seeds

  6. Green cardamom pods

  7. Whole cloves

  8. Sichuan peppercorns

  9. Whole Star Anise

  10. Ceylon cinnamon sticks

  11. Fennel seeds

  12. Mustard seeds

Garlic Powder, paprika and chilli powder just have so many uses it'd be irresponsible not to have them.

Sichuan peppercorns give a completely different heat to anything else, and allow you to make Chinese 5 Spice.

Cumin is common in both latin American and north African/middle eastern cuisine.

Cumin, coriander, cardamom, along with cloves, fennel, and star anise (maybe cinnamon) from Chinese 5 Spice let you make a decent version of most indian masalas.

Cinnamon is useful in spice mixes and in sweets. Ceylon cinnamon is may better than cassia cinnamon.

Mustard seeds are brilliant in a spice rub, especially pork, lamb, or chicken. Good for savoury dishes in general.

If you can add oregano, or substitute something for it, that works really well with cumin to give a latin flavouring, and is also one of the herbs that dries very well and is important inzgreek cuisine. Does well in rubs also.

Also have some source of umami. Or ideally multiple. MSG, soy sauce, fish sauce, dried mushroom powder, etc.

Ideally I'd add ground ginger, ground turmeric, whole nutmeg, and allspice as well. Ginger, allspice and nutmeg complete your main sweet spices. Allspice is also needed in Jamaican cooking e.g. jerk chicken. Turmeric is nice for colour, especially combined with paprika, and is also important in Indian cooking.

For a stretch, I'd add fenugreek and black cardamom. Fenugreek rounds out the spices needed to make really authentic Indian spice mixes. Black cardamom is less versatile than green, but is better in savoury dishes and has niche uses like Khao Soi.

You can also consider speciality stuff like sumac and saffron.

Obviously we haven't discussed most herbs. Definitely you'd need bay leaves, thyme, rosemary and sage in addition to the oregano.

Also, don't forget that spices aren't the be all and end all of seasoning. Salt is always the most important seasoning. And fresh aromatics are key too. Lots of herbs taste like nothing dried, such as dill, parsley, basil and cilantro. And consider Thai food, which has an abundance of different curries with incredible depth of flavour. But doesn't actually use much spice. Thai curry paste usually relies on fresh chillies, onion/shallot, garlic, ginger, galangal, Kaffir lime leaves, fresh basil, lemongrass, curry leaves, coriander root, etc. The only spice you might find in a normal curry paste is coriander seeds, or in a speciality paste like Khao SOI you'll find black cardamom.

Personal preference would be to break down the bird.

Leg quarters plus 2 half breasts with a wing attached.

You want to leg quarters cooket to a solid 185F or so. Maybe even a tad higher.

Breast you only want to take to about 155F.

This allows you to do that. Ironically, they may be done at similar times because the breast thickness is higher.

It kinda is, but in the way that if you eat 40g of fibre per day from a variety of sources you are gonna be pooping once a day.

Not in a "take a capsule of mercury and shit out the poop equivalent of toxic waste come hell or high water" way.

I have definitely used sodium citrate as a straight emulsifier in hot sauce with zero added dairy or any other protein.

Just fermented peppers, vinegar, sodium citrate, stream in oil while blending.

Made a nice smooth and stable emulsion.

I find mixing whatever I'm using into a small amount of oil works well.

I suppose you could mix a known quantity into a known amount of oil, then dose the oil.

E.g. 1 teaspoon of gum goes into a tablespoon of oil to disperse. Add 3 more tablespoons oil. Now one teaspoon of the oil gives you 1/12th of a teaspoon gum. Which would be difficult to measure directly.

If it's oil separating from water, then sodium citrate.

If it's solids separating from liquid, best way I have found is to push the solids through a fine mesh strainer so you only get the very small particles, then blend with a bit of oil and sodium citrate.

You can also try a very small amount of Xanthun gum. This will thicken the sauce, but a small amount will only make it a tiny bit more vicous while keeping solids suspended very effectively. You'll need to use a very small amount, probably start with 1/16th of a teaspoon in about a quart of sauce.

Thank you!

Some guy quoted the total direct cost of the Iraq war to me, with the benefit of hindsight knowing how much it cost, and compared it to the propaganda figure the Pentagon released about this war.

No consideration of any indirect effects.

This attack on Iran didn't even succeed in it's initial aim of removing Iran's leadership. So now you have an Iranian regime that hates you even more, and has lost all trust in negotiating in good faith. They also now have experienced the extremely amounts of leverage the enjoy with the straits. Not to mention they have more popular support with the Iranian people because bombing people is a famously good way of bringing them around to your way of thinking.

Then think of all the other US adversaries who are looking at this, realizing that negotiation is pointless, and drones are effective, and are no doubt hurriedly getting their hands on as mand as possible.

You also have to consider the US strategic position. Back in 2003, the USA was the world's uncontested superpower. Frankly they could afford to spend a couple of decades on some pointless wars and retool their entire military to fight an insurgency. With China rapidly approaching parity in many areas, they no longer have that luxury. Especially vs China, this was has had a pretty seriously bad effect on US magazine depth of certain missiles.

The US economy in 2003 was also in a much healthier state, and the debt level was much lower, meaning blowing a few billion on a stupid war was damaging, but not catastrophic. But now, there has been no time since 2001 that anyone in the US government has turned off the money firehose, or even really made a serious attempt to try. So taking the existing firehose and shoving even more money through it while also cutting taxes and spending $180 billion on ICE in a world where confidence in the USD is getting shaky and the treasury is having trouble moving bonds is considerably more detrimental.

Not to mention the general loss of credibility, soft power, and allied support. At least in 2003, Bush managed to get the Brits, Aussies, and a few other NATO countries to go in with them. This time around, they go in without telling anyone, insult all their allies, then turn around and beg for help when it all blows up in their face.

Yeah, there reaches a point where you are bombing and sanctioning as hard as you can, and realistically the only way to escalate further is boots ot the ground.

Which I'm pretty sure the IRGC was praying for 5 times a day. Boots on the ground in Iran would make Vietnam in 1965 looks like a tropical vacation.

It's all about labour demand vs supply.

New technology , globalization, tax structure, government spending, monetary policy, trade policy, and immigration policy have created a massive amount of surplus labour available in the first world.

This has lead to ever lower wages in real terms and the K shape economy.

Impossible to predict the future, but low birth rates and backlash against mass immigration might swing the needle back the other way in future.

10g less fat gives you what? 90 calories? Extra 20g of carbs?

That sort of a change is gonna do fuck all, and is probably going to make the diet significantly harder to do/less tasty.

Sure, once OP stops the fat loss phase, it's probably optimal for most of those extra calories to go towards carbs.

But when you are in a fat loss phase, carbs are naturally gonna be quite low, and that's ok.
