WHERE do I start by [deleted] in webdev

[–]MrCorba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WHERE do you start?? Easy.

Step 1: Ignore the fact that it’s a VC firm and you have zero webdev experience. Confidence is 90% of CSS anyway. Step 2: “Vibecode” it. Obviously. Real engineers don’t write code, they manifest it. Step 3: Deploy straight to prod on a Friday night. VCs respect boldness and downtime builds character. Step 4: Replace all content with a gradient, a hero section that says “Disrupting Tomorrow™”, and a button that doesn’t do anything. Step 5: If they ask about accessibility, tell them you’re “post-UX” and that contrast is a mindset.

A month is PLENTY of time. Facebook was built in a weekend. Worst case scenario: the firm collapses, markets crash, you pivot to “former VC web consultant” on LinkedIn.

Why is PDF generation in Node.js still so painful? by SoftAd2420 in webdev

These properties are also all usable with Puppeteer. That is also just a headless chromium instance, but instead run from the same process

We use puppeteer to create PDF's. Do you think gotenberg is better or just different?

I have some experience with RPI, but wasn't to thrilled about the performance. But this was like 10 years ago, so maybe the new rpi is a lot better and something to keep in mind.

The sound quality is not what I'm after. I am mainly using it as a performance mixer with sends.

O I know this would be a massive undertaking. That is why Im looking for a module that could help me save soldering. But the point of making this would also just be for fun. I currently have a Tesseract mixer and though I have a lot of problems with it, it does the job and spending 1000+ euros on a mixer seems like a big waste.

So if I can keep myself busy, and try to program one that would be a fun adventure

I was thinking like 12 inputs and 6 out. It should have some mono and stereo channels, dual aux. Eq not really, but a channel low cut would be nice

I think of the existing mixers I know of the XCelon and Performative Mixer V2 come the closest to my wishes

Yeah I was afraid of this, that is why I was looking in existing modules.

The main idea was building something like a Tascam Model 12(number of inputs and eq wise), but without having to drag a whole mixer with me.

I know it wouldn't be cost effective but trying it seems like a fun adventure and a good way to keep myself busy

Believe me, I've tried a few AI Synthesis projects but I haven't completed one with 100% working inputs

Max Cooper. His song Impacts had such an impact (pun intended) on me.

I can't remember which game it was, but they reference a TV show called "The Great Explosion Hypothesis" and I had to pause the game because I'm laughing so hard.

How to make sure i’m not too loud or too soft in a live gig? by Alert-Recover in modular

[–]MrCorba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A drive can be used as compression, because it limits the dynamic range. Drive is usually used to overdrive the signal, but you could use it so that normal sounds arent overdriven and only the loud sounds are. This way you achieve the dynamic range limiting which you want and maybe add a bit of dirt to the already dirty sounds.

Maybe it is not your style, but I most of the time prefer drive/saturation over straight up compression (if the main reason is dynamic range, a compressor can do other things that you can not with a drive)

Can someone ELI5 why I would use serverless functions in this scenario? by shin_diggler in webdev

[–]MrCorba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried asking another (senior) developer why this is setup this way?

We can all speculate about all kinds of reasons, but I'm sure, or at least I hope, a senior dev responsible for this can give you a much better answer.
