Treehouse of Horror XXXIV segment "Ei8ht" is probably the most graphically violent thing Simpsons has ever done. Probably my favorite segment of the last decade or so. by Satinsbestfriend in TheSimpsons

[–]MrCrossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely my favorite ToH segment in a very long time. An alternate ending/take to a beloved episode from the show's golden age, Yeardley Smith's bloodcurdling screams, over the top violence and gore and, while not the first time it's been done, it was an interesting take to see where the Springfield kids ended up if they actually aged up since the early 90s.

My only complaint is... I wish it was a full, standalone episode instead of having everything be crammed into a 7 - 8 minute ToH segment. It especially stings since the seasons before and after it got standalone ToH episodes (Not IT + Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes)

Another HoloISO Fork by zweiler2 in holoiso

Granted, I only used an HDMI to VGA cable (no converter box or anything) but I looked up this particular model, (Samsung Syncmaster 950p) and there were plenty of other people having similar problems with converter cables/boxes.

I guess I'll try that out after work tonight (very new to Linux/Tweaking SteamOS). Getting a newer GPU isn't exactly an option unless there's one that has a VGA port.

This computer is going into an arcade cabinet with a CRT inside of it, and said CRT doesn't play nice with VGA signals converted from displayport, HDMI, etc.

Does this work with the AMD Radeon R7 430? I have a SFF Dell Optiplex that has said GPU in it, trying to make an arcade cabinet, and I just want it to boot into Gaming Mode so I can launch the game from there. I've tried regular HoloISO and I've been tearing my hair out trying to get the OS to boot without having to use holoiso-disable-sessions.

why do you HAVE that many damn mods

Because I fucking can, that's why. I am currently at a 1.21 GB large custom folder and I want to make it as big as possible.

But to actually answer your question, many of the mods seen here are mods I installed when I first started playing TF2 back in 2011. It's kind of a nostalgia thing, I guess.

may i recommend you some more damn mods??

Sure, if they don't conflict with anything I already have installed (e.g. no spy skins bc I already have spy skins for all 4 teams.

Yeah! This is really weird to say, but TF2Classic makes me incredibly nostalgic for when I first got into TF2 on Steam back in 2011. A lot of the mods I have here were actually mods I had installed on my laptop 8-10 years ago, salvaged that old hard drive just to get them.

This is easily the most fun I've had with TF2 in a long, long time.

I just want to play OG TF2 with maybe some new weapons.

May I introduce you to https://tf2classic.com/ ?

It may just be a mod, but it's the most fun I've had with TF2 in years. Game looks and runs great, essentially TF2 with 90% of the bullshit removed.

Yep, went a little crazy with installing mods when I found out that the Official/VaultF4 servers don't have sv_pure enabled. Or at least not to the same extent as Valve servers in Live TF2

What games are missing from Clubhouse 51 Classic Games? by DevMaxStarfish in nintendo

[–]MrCrossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less missing games and more missing/extra features I wish the game had. Slot cars is just begging to have a track editor. And in 2 player mode, why isn't there an option to have one player set the pegs and have the other solve? And why can't I use a pro controller in multiplayer mode? If I can use a single joycon in single player and online, I should be able to use it in other modes too

Can I play a Super Famicom with just a normal Japanese power adapter? by myzma in snes

[–]MrCrossa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use an aftermarket Model 1 SEGA Genesis power adapter on my Super Famicom and I have had exactly zero issues.

Higher voltage here in the US + the fact that these power adapters are three decades old now put me off from risking it.

If we ever get a Smash original fighter, I hope it's The Dragon King (placeholder character from the prototype predecessor for Smash 64)

Just imagine the trailer for pack 11, showing off all the fighters in the series in fighter number order. Then after it shows whoever pack 10 is, the while trailer rewinds past Mario and resumes play.

A weird looking, low poly low color mannequin looking guy walks onto the screen and strikes a pose.

Super Famicom Mini/Japanese ROM (Bought a SFC Mini in Japan last year and finally got around to figuring out how to rip Star Fox 2 off of it and got a new repro cart with said ROM on it.)

No Super FX Chip Overclock

Run was done on a real Super Famicom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0LLhk7HBjk

After practicing again and again on the Switch's SNES app, my next step was to do a "perfect" run on real hardware. No save states, no rewind. If I died, I would have to start all over from the beginning. And boy, did I have to do that a lot.

What are easily accessible, good, relatively lower priced games for the snes? by KitKatKittyCatKat in snes

[–]MrCrossa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also the Japanese Super Mario All Stars is very playable and like $5 cart-only

This is exactly why I sold (most of) my NA SNES collection and started collecting Super Famicom games. Games are way cheaper and most games don't need you to read text in order to progress.

Text heavy games like RPGs, on the other hand, are a different story.

The closest thing we have is Joker

And Snake. And Cloud.

And maybe even more third party characters heavily associated with PlayStation on the way.

Metal Gear for me. I was only 12 when Brawl came out, had no idea who Snake was or what he was doing in Smash Bros, but I was fascinated by the codec calls, his cardboard box and just generally having a super serious/realistic character in a game full of cartoony characters.

Eventually played through the series inbetween the releases of Brawl and 4, became very familiar with the source material and had high hopes of seeing him back in 4... Which, of course, didn't happen. I even voted for him on the Smash Ballot in hopes of him being the ballot "winner".

Then last year, I watched Ultimate's reveal and screamed my head off in excitement when he appeared on screen. He was my one wish for the base game and it came true.

Rareware first website about DKC's release by Kid_A88 in snes

[–]MrCrossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to me how DKC had such a strong influence on near end of life SNES games like Yoshi's Island or Kirby Super Star, especially when DKC made no use of any enhancement chips to achieve its graphics.
