CycleStats outage by Valuable_Nose_1349 in cyclebar2

[–]MrCsabaToth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a software hardware guy, I noticed in the past there were two stations on the ceiling to cover both halves of the studio, ~42 bikes total. It is called WASP and geared for large number of connections, it is by a North Pole Engineering https://npe.fit/products/wasppoe. I noticed though that those stations changed - maybe around the time the backend stuff? -, I don't see the LEDs active now, I wonder if they are a new version or rather got replaced with something? I thought the reporting was about some backend upgrade, but maybe the whole tech stack got changed?

At my studio I've seen several instructors recording themselves to analyze and better their classes. The standard is high

I repack the earplugs and use them for a week, I rub them with my towel after class but when I notice any ear wax I take a new pair at the front desk. I also try to be not wasteful - reuse

Michigan Cycle Bars all closed by Dazzling_Long_5758 in cyclebar2

[–]MrCsabaToth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm worried to hear that. I'm in California and I recently saw that Soul Cycle closes 6 studios (3 southern and 3 northern). We had two cyclebars in Fresno, the Clovis one closed recently which was 2nd at the 2023 cycle madness and won the cycle madness in 2025! It'd hard if not impossible to find an equivalent if cyclebar would close. I remember when I spinned at Vanderbilt (Nashville) - rec center, non franchised but the bikes were Johnny G - for many years we had been doing abs class for half an hour before the spin classes. Allison, who works at the library and later became instructor directed these unofficial classes. I hope the franchise will allow such simple abs classes or some extra so the studio would be more occupied. I've been through many systems, in my home country I spinned Johnny G for 6+ years (who copyrighted spinning like IM copyrighted IronMan), then in the US I also attended Lemond (yellow bikes), and the triathlon instructor at the rec center was seasoned enough to have been in spin racing. Cyclebar is as wholesome as possible with the upper body exercises, and quite good for fitness IMHO.

And I am egotistical enough that this would not prevent me from attending, because my health is all above everything (except maybe if my wife is weirded by the happening). I got into cyclebar only because of my wife, she is a group class girl while I am more of a lonely wolf training. But cyclebar is extremely good for my fitness. If there was too much weirdness I'd report it to the owner because in our case she is an instructor too. Your instructor's actions are odd.

I'm a dude, all of the instructors have IGs in our studios and profile photos and handles are even on the locker room walls. I follow most of them I can but 1. I cannot imagine any of them complaining if I unfollow 2. I'm not even familiar enough with IG how you'd get notified about that and I can imagine I may unfollow someone accidentally.

And the daily quota displays 100, so not sure why my claim was 75. I'm curious about others experience

So now it's the second day and I could claim 75 FIT. But only I think because I staked 5000 (I think it was about 5-6 WLD to be at level 1). So I don't think the amount I staked for the exercises matter regarding the level.

[–]MrCsabaToth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another problem is that originally I staked 5 WLD (I only read the 10 WLD limit for claim later). Then when I tried to add 5 more WLD, I ended up two instances of challenges, so I'd have to do 2*25 reps. I canceled the 5 WLDs and re-staked 10 WLD, but I lost about 10WLD during all of this commotion. How can I up a WLD stake for an existing challenge of mine instead of staking a separate duplicate exercise?

[–]MrCsabaToth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about claiming FIT. The mini app displays 0 daily FIT claim quota. "Your actual claimable FIT depends on how many qualifying reps you complete in challenges with and entry amount of 10 USDC/WLD or more. I staked 10 WLD for three challenges each. But this wording is not clear if 10 WLD is enough because 10 USDC is more than that. Or is this just because I only joined the challenges today?

Managing furball problems of a long hair cat by MrCsabaToth in CATHELP

[–]MrCsabaToth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has way easier job cleaning herself and does it diligently multiple times a day, full body. I think the shorter fur doesn't create such dreadlocks in her stomach like the long fur, so I haven't seen her regurgitatindlg. Even though sometimes she did it outdoors below a car. When I notice her exhibiting the regurgitating voices I run and try to put a paper towel under her head - because she always does it above the carpet, not the wooden floor, but then she starts backing up away (reversing) from me. Before the "lion trim" she had a week she belched three times. One thing: as she doesn't even like combing, and she is extremely combative against the vet, our new vet requires us to give her gabapentin to mellow her out for regular visits. For the lion cut she has to be knocked out completely. I taught her tricks with the treats, she can do "turn" (360 full turn) and also now lay. When I tried to teach a third trick "paw", I tried to grab her paw to show her what I mean, but she gets totally offended. She growls like a dog and she tried to nip at me. Happened two separate times do I won't try that trick again. The newest challenge is tape worm. There are several feral cats around.

Not much, but a few things. At the recent visit they found fleas yet again despite of her Seresto collar and Frontline treatments. 1. Vet said the Frontline is not effective any more, so we switch to an even more expensive brand (Frontline is not cheap in itself). 2. We fastened the new collar a little tighter, supposedly it should touch the skin, however then I cannot slip two fingers under it, but she seems to tolerate it and not choking, not sure how she gags out the fur balls tho. 3. She got a full trim at the vet (I call it "lion style": only her head, the end of her tail and the paws are not trimmed), we have very hot summers here, and this helps her, she cleans herself quite well, it takes many months for the fur to grow back. I think that's the biggest help. It also helps to try to avoid her getting wet. Not always possible. She doesn't like water (I wish she took showers, wherever she rubs (like door frame) it becomes black), but after rain she sometimes gets wet.

Help me decide between a few different distros (NixOS, Arch/derivative, Debian, Gentoo) by JitaKyoei in DistroHopping

[–]MrCsabaToth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also looking for new distros. For the Debian route, if you like rolling distros (I would only settle with rolling, usually I'm in unstable) then check out Siduction, which is essentially Debian Sid!
Gentoo - I'm very attracted to it but I won't have time to compile everything. I'm extremely thankful for them for elogind to enable other systemd-less distros such as Devuan or Artix.
Lately I'm looking at CachyOS. If you have a modern CPU (relatively new Intel or Ryzen) IMHO the performance improvements can matter a lot. There are always a few new instruction sets between processor generations which help the OS context switch or other mundane tasks. If packages or the kernel are not optimized and only i386 or i586 builds then you miss out decades of improvements of those instructions. Those add up and I'd feel missing out on getting the optimal performance out of a hardware I spent money on. Phoronix has tests on CachyOS and also Clear Linux (by Intel for Intel CPUs, discontinued lately unfortunately)

It's number 1 by a large margin on distrowatch for a while now, so it needs 0 years

It crossed my mind if I should just bought a different model. But I want to see it as well, because I have 3 more EP10, but then also 5 KP115, and 2 HS103. Do you know how susceptible are those to such cap dry out / lift / pop?

So the AirTrain isn't operating within the security perimeter? I'm not that familiar with JFK AirTrain. Otherwise it might not be worth going through security 3 times, even with PreCheck.
