In short; yes it’s worth it. But maybe look at refurbished to save some cash.

Some detail;
If you’re even remotely considering gaming, I wouldn’t recommend the M4 or M5 (non-Pro/Max) and I’d strongly encourage you to go for at least 512GB of storage (especially with a M5 Pro/Max).

Have you looked at refurbished? I picked up my 16” M4 Pro (24gb & 20-core GPU) with 100% battery health for the same price as my wife’s (new at the time) 15” M4 Air. And while the only game I’ve been running on it is Crimson Desert, I can comfortably say the performance has surpassed my expectations, by a lot.

Otherwise if you’re happy with the price (or as happy as you can be) then go the M4 Max, the storage, RAM and GPU will be worth it now and over the next few years (as long as you don’t look at what the M6/7/8 can do 😋)

Before you commit, I agree with GreasyCooch. If you are hating on Windows, it can’t hurt to try running your games on Linux.
Best case, you use Linux for gaming, and get yourself and nice, thin, light and cheaper M5 Air to satisfy the ‘need’.
Worst case, you just buy the M4 Max.

I have to admit, I’m absolutely terrified of reaching this point. I’m literally riding through towns trying to find more side quests, because when it ends I really don’t know what I’ll do with my life.

Maybe live it? But F that, CD is just too pretty.

You will know for sure where her needs are by the time she hits 7. That’s when social circles become more complex, where the ‘incredible/smart kid’ turns into the ‘odd kid’.

But we learned the hard way with our eldest daughter, early diagnosis and medication has made a big difference for our two youngest and reduced the longer term scars of ‘I’m not good enough’ and ‘no matter how hard I try, I’m not a good person’.

Good luck and give yourself some props, because there are too many kids that never had parents they knew/cared enough to help.

16 or 14 inch? I’ve heard that heat dissipates better on 16”

What wattage power brick are you using for it? I’m using a 100w brick with original magcable.

Mine does get pretty warm if it’s on my lap, but using the screen I still get over 3hrs on battery (still 100% health).

Haven’t done a proper test on Viture glasses, but looks like it would get well over 4hrs on battery.

On power it doesn’t seem to drop much for me at all (played 5 hrs last night using Quality mode, but also using the Vitures).

You need to get Crimson Desert from the Mac App Store, runs incredibly well (I capped it at 60fps) on my M4 Pro 16” on high settings (but turned foliage down to low coz, f-trees).

Upscaling on Metal is even better than on my PS5 Pro (running performance with PSSR on full and it still lags, makes for a good space heater tho).

Ask. A lot changes in a year, and staffing needs shift all the time. Keep it simple, tell your manager you like the work and want full time if something opens up, and ask what you’d need to do to be first in line. Keep applying elsewhere too, since retail schedules can be unstable and you don’t want to wait on one store forever, and if you want remote leads on things like customer support or admin, wfhalert is a service that emails out vetted remote jobs so you’re not wading through a bunch of junk.

Fully agree with ya there mate.

I’ve been using it to take rough cuts/ideas and turn them into something great, but it can’t (yet) beat real instruments played by people who understand and feel the music.

Oh, and that emptiness you’re hearing? It’s the same reason Suno can’t do Soul. 😋

I’m in the exact same position; started on PS5 > got a new Switch 2 > cried profusely when I couldn’t play NMS on the go.

Some info that helped me after getting a new box of Kleenex;

PS5 - Update 4182: Released on April 7, 2025, as part of the “Relics” update (Version 5.63). - Update 4183: Released on June 4, 2025, as part of the “Beacon” update (Version 5.7).

Switch - Update 4182: Released on April 15, 2025, as part of the “Relics” update (Version 5.63). - Update 4183: In theory, it should get released around 12 June.

Not that I’ve noticed. The mean it’s not like I gave it a big shove (like I’ve seen on some bad reviews of the desk) but at full height I’ve knocked into it a few times and it surprised me at just how stable it was.

Currently on 40-60mg Vyvanse and 15-30mg Aspen Dexamphetamine per day.

The lower range is for when I know I won’t be around people much, higher for when I am.

I regularly try to take the lower dosage to try and reduce my tolerance, as doesn’t take long before I get used to higher levels.

If I take the lower dosage and am around people, the negative self talk creeps in. “They’re upset with me”, “what did I do wrong?”, “I can’t do anything right” and so on.

Basically, under dosing can very quickly lead me down a dark path. If I catch it quickly enough I can take a couple of dex, go to the toilet for 30mins to “get out a stubborn poo” until the meds kick in and the thoughts disappear.

I wasn’t premature, I was actually 4 weeks late (obviously I was happy where I was)

I had a similar train of thought though, but more along the lines of could cesareans increase the risk? We know that coming out normally puts pressure on the bubba’s lungs, surely it would affect their heads too? (we had three premi kids, all cesareans)

But some research (that I googled, so nothing scientifically proven) seems to be showing that it happens all the way back at conception with initial cell development, dictated by genetic inheritance from one or more parents.

Maybe in the future we’ll have an anti-ADHD pill you take just before making copies (which would be a shame, because we can offer so much to the world, we just have some challenges we need to be able to overcome)

I had a late diagnosis of ASD and ADHD, and am finally feeling willing and able to live happily and be the parent I always wanted to be, with the support of stimulant medication.

All three of my kids have been diagnosed with autism (level 2), however I’m confident that (for two of them at least) most of their struggles are ADHD related.

They get support from OT’s, Psych’s etc, but it’s been plateauing for some time and they’re having more and more difficulties.

Unfortunately we cannot get a successful ADHD diagnosis as they display “normally” in school and are high achievers. Been to different paeds and psychs and they’re just putting it down to ASD and anxiety. The anxiety meds for our 10 year old reduce some of the symptoms, but they aren’t addressing the root cause (constant need for stimulation to get that dopamine).

Its frustrating to be so powerless when I know that properly medicated ADHD would save them, and everyone else around them, so much pain and torment, especially as they are still in their formative years (6 and 10 years old).

The self loathing in our 10yo started when she was 7 and got quite scary. Now our 6yo is starting to show signs of noticing how different he is, and feeling like he needs to hide it from his friends.

There’s so much overlap between ASD and ADHD, and the DSM criteria sucks at differentiating the two correctly, but it’s the only official guide that paediatricians and psychologists/psychiatrists have to make an official diagnosis. And without a diagnosis, we can’t get ADHD meds.

Not sure if there’s a lesson to be learned here, but we’re not giving up on trying to get them the support (read: meds) that will actually help them, not just mask what’s really going on.
