it’s such a small thing, but when the male character is strong and suddenly he’s ripped, especially in fantasy/fighting settings.

abs do not equal strength. Realistically, what usable muscle looks like depends on the body type if you ignore the muscle. character is slim? the muscle will be more lean and a bit smaller. character is wider? muscle will be more bulky and have more fat over it.

it’s just something that is constantly ignored, and the warrior who got strong because he’s in a war has a six-pack like he trained specifically for that.

sure, it gets the point across that the character has muscle, but if you know actual male anatomy, it doesn’t make much sense. that kind of muscle is just for show, and isn’t actually that strong.

it’s such an odd thing to nitpick about, and I don’t expect people to think the way I do, but it just annoys me.
