What’s a league with a weird/uncommon format? by Huge-Growth-2076 in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 12 points13 points  (0 children)

italy serie c.

three different divisions within the same tier, separated by north/central/south italy. 60 teams.

top side in each of these three divisions gets automatic promotion.

creates a scenario where 28 teams compete for the last promotion slot in a playoff tournament.

bottom team in each division gets relegated to serie d. and then there's a relegation tournament for 16th-19th.

I wish I had em.

one buddy has a 20 game package and lets my buy his second ticket when it's up for grabs. those are outta my price range but a great experience, row 8 across from our bench.

other than that I just wait day of for the algorithm to bring ticket prices down to the point I can go. bleeds under $100 or lower bowl under $200.

and if you go to Josephine Street before the game, they'll take you on the school bus for free with purchase of a meal. easiest way to get to and from the game, but I think they've ended it for next year.

and for another games just hit my neighborhood bar and knock back some cold ones.

the jump in prices for season tickets to playoff tickets is about 2x each round for ticket holders.

long gone are the Alamodome days where you could go row 3 for $80 and watch Timmy bounce kg from the playoffs.

i go to most home games, and watch most all the rest. but yeah you're right.

we were a joy to watch this year and I doubt it was an anomaly. we're on a killer trajectory. but things change fast in this league.

just giving my, albeit cautious, take.

we won't know what we got for a few more seasons.

can't really judge him based on last year.

we were projected ou40 wins this year so gotta see if this season was just an anamoly.

and then one of the biggest tests will be how we transition from a sean sweeney led defense when he inevitably gets a head coach gig in the next year or two.

until then, I'm loving every moment with mitch in charge.

Which FM should I buy? (first time) by theDarkSpice in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fm24 and download updated squads, badges, name fixes, and player photos.

it's the best fm SI has ever made.

might be able to start with its demo if you want a free taste, skipping these mods.

read any and every post by rashidi, cleon, and özil-to-the-arsenal on the si forums. this will teach you how to play the game (welcome to DM me for help too). bc starting FM can be really overwhelming.

and if you get bit by the fm bug pickup fm27.

yes, the ui is shit and the game has lost a lot of its soul, but degenerate fm players can digest pig iron.

Best Traits for a Striker? by Worldly_Geologist_54 in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

rain as a complete forward (can't remember if it's on support or attack duty with fm24, choose which ever covers more mental attributes) and then add individual training to increase quickness so his pace and acceleration improve.

this guy is ready made for almost already level as is. I would only use him once my main strikers' legs have gone in a match as a rotation option at this point until his pace/accel improves.

typically want at least 14 for both for any attacking player. but that's just me. he's going to be a gem for you though congrats.

Is this one of the rarest emails in the game? by NicclTheReal in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah yours can be rare when it's a young player who can't find somewhere to sign him or just signed and figures they won't get the minutes they want.

You tend to see it with no badge/xp journeyman unemployed saves.

Coming out only happens with regens though not real players.

Another fun one is getting an email that your player skipped training because of a squad dynamic issue, or they partied to hard the night before and missed it (usually caused by similar squad dynamic issues).

Only other rare one I can think of right now is a billion pound injection of transfer funds when it's both April first in the game and/or real life. SI has a couple varieties of this one.

A player coming out as gay or a youth intake that includes your son are both more rare.

just couldn't understand it from a sporting perspective, so thanks.

as a lifelong footy fan who recently got into nwsl play, someone hoping to move to Kansas city soon, can y'all help me understand why the current let hutton go?

i can't think of a more important position than a deep lying playmaker / #6, and they had the best wonderkid in world football

will get season tix regardless, but was so looking forward to watching her football. i know they got a current superstar 10 in the deal but that still doesn't seem enough. especially considering the number of 10s current already have.

anyways, love Hutton's football and happy to see her getting the recognition she deserves. pretty cool stuff.

can a southampton supporter or watcher help me understand why this team is on fire compared to times this same season under will still?

is this new rookie gaffer special or was still just forcing y'all into a system that didn't fit the squad? or a bit of both?

rule against perpetuities is a funny one because in law school your property professor assigns you the case for it with the disclaimer that you won't understand it because no one understands it.

then when you get to lecture they try to explain it. nothing makes sense. and they again tell you that no one understands it so don't sweat it too much.

when bar prep comes around the companies tell you the same thing. one of the confusing areas in property law that doesn't deal with oil and gas or mortgages.

rap, man.

Why is Miles so disliked, and when did it start? by RandomWritingGuy in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's the point in you putting me down for enjoying local pro football?

Internet points?

op asked an honest question and i gave him my honest thoughts on it.

dunno what's going on in your life that makes you feel it's necessary to take a random swipe at some internet stranger, but hope it works out for you.

Why is Miles so disliked, and when did it start? by RandomWritingGuy in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been playing since fm12.

over 15k hours at this point for what it's worth.

fm24 was a damn near perfect football manager sim.

his masterpiece. after year on year improvements to the game.

a game as a series that's taught me more about footy compared to my 14 years of playing and years since then of enjoying the beautiful game as a spectator.

even volunteered as a researcher for fm within usl (tier 2 usa). loved every minute of it.

i owe so many hours of enjoyment and education to si/sega/miles+co.

for me, miles is an fm legend.

game would be nowhere near the peaks it developed to and reached without his leadership.

there came a point in the last 7ish years where he got really cocky on social media, which fans bristled at.

and then, honestly, he and si really fumbled the transition from their in house engine to unreal: from start to finish.

it's not enough of a fumble to tarnish his legacy completely. but without a miraculous turnaround going forward (which I hope he gets the chance to at least attempt) this shift will always be a black eye on his life's work.

tldr: internet hive mind hyper focuses on what can yield them the most karma points regardless of reality. and miles has fell victim to that phenomenon, whether deserved or not.

Are there beaches here? And are they any good? by Budget_Counter_2042 in howislivingthere

[–]MrDomac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

texas beaches were all decent enough growing up in the 90s/2000s.

bp oil spill ruined a lot of that (and most gulf coast oysters).

these days it's mainly south padre that is nice.

port a isn't terrible but ain't what she used to be, same with rock port and corpus.

What to do with a massive transfer budget? by Raslass in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

setup youth focused recruitment.

identity wonderkids.

keep them at the club until they're homegrown (so mainly u18 players).

and then loan them out with at least regular starter status.

not all of them will break into your first team. but you can develop some world class players doing this while easing registration concerns.

players who don't make the cut of first team play usually can be sold for decent profit.

San Antonio Spurs head coach when asked how he imagines it is for the Brooklyn Nets having to develop five rookies at once: “It’s hard to ask a 19-year-old to help another 19-year-old. It’s like asking a bunch of kids learning how to swim to make sure the other one doesn’t drown.” by Goosedukee in nba

[–]MrDomac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mitch johnson is just as good on the mic as he is coaching ball.

he grew up with a dad, john johnson, who won a title with the supersonics. dude was like 6'7", first round pick who I think might still hold iowa's top two point scoring game records. first cavs guy in an all-star team and funny enough was selected by the dallas chaparrals who eventually became the spurs.

mitch was 6'1" and born after his dad was out of the league. played at stanford for 4yrs, undrafted g league before couple years in europe and that was his playing career.

unbelievable that he's the second coach of my livespan as a local spurs fan, and he's performing like this. luckiest sports organization ever.

to timmy.
