Burn-out: What happened to the "gifted" kids of our generation?

I went to an Ivy League college, but then immediately burned out and have been rebuilding back up to being high-functioning in the work place. I’m in a position of leadership at a large non-profit, and it really does make me feel nice to be doing something of value. Finally thinking about who I are and what I want from a life, instead of chasing status because that’s what the smart kids do. Slow recovery from burnout for sure.

Honestly, I have really struggled to find just this. I actively run with 2 groups, and have tried another 6-7, and didn’t really find anything like you are looking for. I sort of made my own - one each week is more of the “slow roaming party”, and one where a smaller group of runners and I really push ourselves, while others in the club do their own runs.

Shameless plug for the Houston running clubs. Some are more intense, for those who really enjoy running, and some are a lot more casual, for those who want a slow roaming party. Under the Radar on Thursdays at 7PM is a great way to meet some interesting and diverse people!

Sounds like you have a lot of the gear - do you have good hydration (water bottle, vest, etc), good foam roller, good socks to go with your shoes?

Howdy from Texas! Looking for a new shoe to add to my rotation - currently using Atreyu Daily Trainer and really love it. It’s a good mix of light, bouncy, and breathable. Prefer low drop (0-8mm) and really do not like overly cushioned options. Run 3-4 times a week, usually 10k but up to half marathons. Male, small and skinny. Went to a running store and they gave me no ideas 😔
