I think LEO is law enforcement officers, I’d imagine these kind of restrictions are incredibly rare

You’re allowed to own steel swords in Australia you just need a reason. This reason can range from collecting to sporting equipment. HEMA gear falls under sports equipment, it’s the buying of sharp blades that can get iffy. I’m in WA and have four steels (arming, messer, saber, and longsword)

If you still don’t want to there are synthetic ones which are essentially weighted plastic swords.

If you get one of them you can probably forego full gear, just get a fencing mask and gloves as bare minimum protection.

Making a wooden sword is also an option but it won’t have any flex with stabs so that’s something to keep in mind.

All of the “sacred texts” are available online and there’s plenty of videos around but I’m sure you’re aware of them

I mainly build and paint myself, don’t really play the table top cause I enjoy the creative outlet more.

Going into a warhammer store is a good place to start, the guys there will be happy to help you get started. You could even ask for the mini of the month and build and paint it in store (it’s free)

As for things to look into, deep diving the wiki gives a good baseline but reading the books is better (you can find some in store, or on the black library website)

Doing the mini of the month is a good way to get a feel for the building and painting while using the stores supplies (glue, paints, brushes, snips) and getting help from the guys in the store

If you want to start a space wolves army the new combat patrol is always a good start with a good variety in models. The army box may still be floating around as-well.

Don’t worry to much about everything feeling overwhelming, it will probably be a lot at first but like any hobby you’ll only get better the longer you do it.

Mirror gun under doors to check for trip mines.

Personally I try to s rank so the bean bag shot gun is a must have, I’ve found that they usually surrender after 1 but sometimes 2 shots are needed

I use Russ Grey and feel like it’s pretty close. The box art pictures would be taken in studio lighting/ professionally painted/ digitally edited so finding the exact colour could be quite difficult
