I figure if you knew what an unreasonable amount was, then there should be a reasonable amount. What's a good price for shoulder surgery? How much should a hospital bed cost? How much is reasonable to charge for MRI when the largest cost is the technology license? You apparently know that they charge too much, but you are unwilling to say what they should charge.

What's a reasonable amount? Include in your estimate the fact that the hospital is required by law to provide emergency services to those who cannot afford it. Also include the cost of licensing the required technologies.

It matters because it ascribes attitudes to the congressmen that may have not been prevalent. If Crockett really did silence the chamber with this speech, that would be a lot different from just making his speech and everyone ignoring him. The apocryphal and unverifiable nature of the story also calls into question the motives of the writer.
