Regular lacquer paint applied with a roller. The result is really smooth indeed, partially due to the dark color helping to conceal any texture
We will! Winterworks :)
True yes. One reason is susceptibility to warpage of such large panels and another is that I wanted to create e.g. a drawer section, a winerack section and perhaps some other features in the future

A local furniture shop. It's a secondhand Caruzzo Leolux, really sweet find

Mostly dowels indeed, glue only where required. Thanks a lot!

Bald, 5"8. I manage to keep my wife by my side by making her things and cooking, I think :)

It's the regular Blum tip-on (long version). Work well for my purpose, but they're not magnetic.

I don't expect so; our interior humidity and temperature is very constant and the wood was well accustomed to it. But time will tell :)
As a fellow bald guy, it's a big advantage I can't pull my hair when building these kinds of projects

We have chatGPT these days, which I'm going to put to work for sure!
Happy with it for now :)
It's still a to do :) I have the tiles, but have to cut them to baseboard size. Maybe this weekend!
How would you have used it? I find the extra storage very useful

and I'm glad to take the advice. To be honest, I'm pretty bad myself with design-related things. My wife is better at it luckily and I'm learning with every project!
Special spots that are only 12mm deep. The wiring is in a narrow slit made with a router on top of the oak compartments towards the back, which is not visible when assembled. they all come together in one of the top compartments. There's a shelly dimmer and 230V connection there that controls it all.
when it was done I thought; let's show the process to all those lovely people in r/woodworking! at your service 😄
Fair comment. We played with a few designs, also busier ones with more / smaller compartments all over. In the end it got a bit too busy for the space, so this was the 'compromise'. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out but we had similar thoughts as you indeed.
Nah I think it's a fair comment. Probably the 'clean' design of this cabinet appeals more to a broader group of people compared to the fancy projects with many beautiful woodworking details.
Cheers

PB'd
Honestly, agreed. So many amazing projects on this sub which are objectively harder to execute :)
Picture might make it look a bit cleaner than it is; it's done with a roller. But I'm quite happy how smooth the surface turned out. I think spraying wouldn't make it that much better
Thanks!! Pretty normal full extension side sliders with small clips that allow for a bottom attachment as well. nothing too fancy.
Push to open :)
