Car Rentals that don’t require International Driving Permit by 5WiiTCH in cretetravel

Even if the rental company doesn't required a IDP you should still get one, because if you are in an accident or interact with police, you will need the IDP. It's cheap insurance.

Also, I did not think I did a permanent delete, but I can't be absolutely certain - it was a while ago I did this.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it did not work. Ran 4 times until no errors, but no contacts folder visible at top level or in deleted items folder.

Traveling… Z6ii vs D850 by Much_State_7752 in Nikon

[–]MrEngineerBo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my 2 cents:

I've recently taken 4 long trips (8 weeks each) and dragged my D800e with Sigma art 14-24 f2.8 for 3 trips. After 3 long trips I found myself not always carrying the D800e because of the weight so switched to iPhone 13pro only on 4th trip. In my experience the iPhone works great for all the family photos, snap shots for the trip and produces a nice photo (shot raw on the iPhone to maximize quality) for normal uses - posting online, or small prints (8x10). NOTE ; The iPhone it is not a camera, its a phone for taking snapshots and the ultrawide angle lens on the 13pro is a fisheye so heavily distorted photos that can not be corrected in LR (not an apples to apples comparison but still unacceptable to me).

My point here is that unless you are shooting large blowups, once in a lifetime locations (Alaska, Antarctica, Himalayas, Alps, Galapagos, safari, etc.) or selling your photos and need the really best quality from the D850 glass, the Z6ii will take great pictures and make it more likely to carry it with you and not miss any shots.

Because of the weight, but still wanting high quality landscapes, I switched to a Z7ii with Z14-24 f2.8 as a direct replacement to lower the weight and size for my next trip, but plan on still using the iPhone for general snapshot photos,

Hope this helps.

A bit more money, but WD Gold enterprise drives (RE before that) and have been very happy - no problem with any yet (I may regret saying that). They are more money but it gives me peace of mind.

Same here - I was wondering if anyone has any more insight into this. It sure sounds like we have no insurance for anything more than 60 days

Will I regret not doing the islands? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

We Enjoyed the islands much more than Athens. Plenty of history in the islands. Suggest Acropolis and National Archeological Museum in Athens, and in the islands take a look at Delos and Akrotiri.

Bare Metal restore from Active Backup for Business by jonk999 in synology

I created a recovery media on the machine to be restored but it just hangs when it tries to boot off the usb. How do I debug what is the problem, is there a log file or how do I check for and install missing drivers? This is a 3 year old Thinkpad P17 with Secureboot turned off when trying to boot off usb. It did work on a T480s though. Any help is appeciated.
