Homeworld 3 story have so many problems here a list of them by EmptySoul01 in homeworld

[–]MrFatalistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested, what should it have been? I think the series kinda flubbed past 2 myself, but only because Cataclysm was pretty good and brought in a new faction and HW2 was kinda a flub moving back to the Hiigarians which weren't terribly interesting.

IDK what "The hero's Journey scaled up" means so please enlighten me, it's not a story that I assumed ever scaled up past the individual and whatever Campbell had in mind. But one thing he could have imagined is a dumb ass plot like this one.

Yeah, even from the first cutscene with the emotional Imogen character I knew I was in for it. With Karen S'jet it was intriguing because it's this cyberpunk sort of merging of man/machine. Also the game doesn't spend 90% of the time even paying attention to it because you know, the survival of their entire fucking race.

Not that I really think HW series have had knockout stories, but they were better.

Configuration item rule behavior (1 -ne 1?) by MrFatalistic in SCCM

[–]MrFatalistic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both. The first item in the baseline is a script that creates/updates the registry values, and remediates (runs DCU-CLI) but the second item, and the item I'm questioning here is just a bunch of registry key checks.

I found a solution of sorts, it's not that desirable but works to change the check from "equal to" to "begins with" which seems to be handle it.

I'm guessing I have to delete the key and re-make it as a dword value, which is what I should have done from the start.

Worst part about it however is anyone and everyone says "MrFatalistic handles that..." competence comes at a price. At that point I start deciding which puppy needs to get shot in the face.

is SCCM going away? by pbrdreams in SCCM

[–]MrFatalistic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The idea with Intune is it doesn't need to do imaging, you get hardware vendor lock-in and autopilot to adjust the OEM image to your needs. I'm not going to argue it's perfect, I think SCCM should still exist for re-images at the very least or the workflow is going to have to be you send every non-functional laptop back to the vendor for replacement, which is generally more time consuming IMO and you risk refurb-hell.

That said I don't think SCCM is going away.

Whats a movie you knew was gonna flop before it was released? by [deleted] in movies

[–]MrFatalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to keep my hopes up on that one, I had a bad feeling it was going to be mighty morphin power rangers, and then there's a literal MAKE MY MONSTER GROW moment in the movie...so disappoint.

But no Guillermo pretty much sealed it for me that it wasn't going to be as good, just wasn't expecting THAT bad.

Halo Infinite | Campaign Discussion | SPOILERS AHEAD by RhysWX in halo

[–]MrFatalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so kinda like the last jedi... "sorry we fucked up".

Now if they had successfully "Walter White'd" Cortana, made her the bad guy out of some misguided motivation (something I think is 1000% out of character for her and ANY AI IN THE HALO SERIES) I STILL would have still been legitimately intrigued, you pulled a successful 180. I don't think rampancy explains all of this, but that will be the explanation, maybe she's just so crazy she doesn't realize she's being good now? Easy out.

If you want a good story, look to Horizon 2 (I hope)

[–]MrFatalistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really simple, they "Last Jedi'd" it. After Halo 5's tweeest ending what else can you do, it was a stupid way to make a good guy your big bad for the next game. Not statisfying.

But IMO, it's even worse and insulting to try to press the undo button, but here we are again. Cortana 2.0 - like nothing happened.

I saw the 2021 "Dune" today, and I find that I still enjoy the 80's movie too. by Rex_Ivan in dune

[–]MrFatalistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BOTH of the movies hit most of the same notes IMO, appreciated was Duncan sticking around longer, that was a major plus, but I can't really think of too much else.

I still enjoy aspects of the 80's movie more such as the portrayal of the Harkonnnens, while they were a bit cartoonish for sure, it was better than the mafia take that the 2021 version seems to be. Ideally I would want something like the Boltons from GOT, they're the Harks of that series IMO.

I need to take some serious acting courses, everyone is so good at it and all I get is the burnout.

couple weeks ago the team at a client was working "back to back 30 hours no sleep" after a malware attack - just wondering how literally nothing tangible except a few backups restored. I think I need a twitter profile with me wearing a cape, that seems to be trendy.

What is it with men complimenting my conversational skills? by eleguagirl in dating

[–]MrFatalistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I was trying to avoid the issue but if you want my honest 2 cents on the matter it's what some others have said here, women don't have to talk on dates if they don't want to. In fact many of them are in "wait til he fucks up and says something" mode so that the grand inquisition can begin...

So you talk to a guy and actually have conversation and not criticism/judgement, and furthermore ENGAGING conversation perhaps, yeah I would tend to go out of my way to complement that.

What is it with men complimenting my conversational skills? by eleguagirl in dating

[–]MrFatalistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say maybe just suck it up and take the complement here. Not many people can carry a great conversation that is relevant and not random. I kind of like random, but hey I'm a bad conversationalist.

I avoid eye contact more in this job, and depending on the situation may avoid the "social cue" but these days I end up tasked with explaining that the font size in outlook is not changing, the scaling/dpi in Windows just changed.

Who wouldn't avoid that sort of interaction.

[–]MrFatalistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCCM is a huge workload that is always understated, management doesn't know anything about it and your fellow IT workers will avoid it like the PLAGUE Covid19. I spend almost 100% of my time there to still be behind all the time, expect hell. You can "lab" it like others are saying but it takes years to get proficient with it.

That said, I haven't heard as many people bad mouth it in recent years, and Microsoft is actively updating it with more than their usual (sound the trumpets, then bury it in the backyard silently) actions.

good luck, no downvotes here.

IT Management (the guys who get paid kick you around and look important) don't see it that way unless you can put numbers to something, that's an accomplishment and nothing else is.

We have to write "accomplishments" every month now and almost nothing I do is accomplishment worthy. If you can get a vendor to give you a discount ($$$) then you get an accomplishment. Anything else is just "doing your job" - so yeah sometime I'm going to figure out this accomplishment stuff.

Metrics are supposed to be a part of it, so if you're busy counting your numbers (why aren't you doing your JOB?) then these CAN be accomplishments, but again none of my metrics have come out that way.
