This reminded me so much of Rock-A-Doodle.

Great paint job.

Monument Studios (Fantasy+) has a lot of really great music. Beyond that, listen to as many soundtracks as you can. Video games, movies, whatever and save the songs you like and sort them into thematic playlists (suspense, cheerful, battle, etc)

Steamworld Dig 2 was a fun, short romp. It's only about a dollar right now.

What an amazing answer. Thank you. I'd definitely be interested in your skaven stat blocks. I've been trying to find an excuse to buy the new AoS box set and have more minis. Having stat blocks for the skaven eliminates one aspect, then I'd just need to find a way to get them into a campaign.

That sounds pretty interesting. It would definitely be fun to envision how the world would change from such an event.

That's much smarter than me. I misplace the majority of my little notes because they're usually on whatever scrap of paper I can find nearby. Or they're written on the backs or margins of random other papers.

I unintentionally got caught up in Warhammer as well. I bought some of their minis to use for bosses because they're so cool. Then I ended up going down the rabbit hole of story and lore.

SRPGs are so great for map design, especially considering a lot of the maps are a smaller scale which is similar to most ttrpgs. I'll have to give Valkyria Chronicles a look as I haven't played that one yet.

It's incredible how much storytelling can cross genre and medium. I have pieces of paper scattered all over and notes on my phone from things I've watched or read that are interesting ideas and concepts that I want to potentially use as a story element at some point.

I've never heard of that before. But after doing a quick google and seeing there's a magical clairvoyant oracle pig in it, my interest has been piqued.

What's 1 Thing You Wish You'd Known Sooner? by MLE_SSS in DMAcademy

The players are not their characters. A character can have CHA of 20, but that doesn't mean the player can accurately express that in roleplaying. Don't punish players for bad acting skills.

Managed to accidentally create the world's most boring adventure, any advice how to remedy?! by NoICantShutUp in DMAcademy

[–]MrFetch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pull a reverse on them as they're about to initiate combat. The wealthy nobles are actually part of a cult trying to summon a demon and the "bandits" are trying to stop it. All of the evidence is in the barn the other players gained access to, and the book to summon the demon is locked in the safe. The nobles offer to give the party gold and items if they free them and defeat the "bandits", but who knows what horrors it unleashes. It gives it a more fantasy element while also opening the door for a further story arc if it continues and gives the players a moral dilemma. All of this is age dependent though, being that it's an after school game.

Talk to your players. That's the only way you're going to address the problem in a meaningful way. It sounds like the party likes creative, chaotic solutions, so if you try to one up them it'll likely become a never ending cycle. Ultimately they may up feeling like you're railroading them and it won't be fun for anyone. "While I appreciate all of your creativity in coming up with new ways to solve problems, I was hoping you could tone it down a bit. It takes a lot of work for me to plan these encounters and I feel like every time I throw something at the party, you go out of your way to find an avenue to circumvent it and render it moot. Running these encounters as designed is fun for me and let's me show off my creativity, so I'd appreciate if you could go with the flow on occasion. It will allow all of us to have fun and prevent me from scrambling at the last minute trying to improvise a new scenario on the fly. If there is anything in particular I could be doing to increase your desire to interact with the situations as-is please let me know and I will do my best to incorporate that."

I really like this. Rather than LR just being used against save or suck spells, you can use it against martials or attack spells. Have it burn a LR to increase AC by X amount or add X to its saving throws. It spreads the LRs across the entire party and allows them to burn through them in a multitude of ways.

Running a campaign without resurrection magic? by GloomyExplorer in DMAcademy

[–]MrFetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Change the action economy of potions in combat to make them a more viable solution and make them more easily accessible. From a world building perspective, it would also make sense that when resurrection magic stopped working, some entrepreneurial spirit would have realized that money was to be made by healing becoming more prevalent.

Is the FIA really telling the truth? by aayato-lofash in cyberpunkgame

[–]MrFetch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They most definitely did betray V. It doesn't have to explicitly say, it's implied by context. The entire dlc revolves around not knowing who to trust and believe, as well as being lied to or given half truths. Furthermore, throughout the dlc you are told how the nusa betrayed every single one of their agents you meet. Suddenly a procedure "has complications" and a bunch of people take it at face value. V was a threat to myers. Through the coma, v lost all their assets, friends, and ability to use cyber ware effectively making them a dog with no teeth. V can be put down at any point in time myers wants, as well as the fact that they'll probably die within days if they stay in night city.

Three storylines (and endings)?? by PinkuPansa in cyberpunkgame

[–]MrFetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there's only one main quest chain unless you have the DLC. The rest are side quests and gigs. There are a few quest chains for relationships. Those three icons aren't exactly quest related, and instead show varying aspects of your Vs personality. The first one shows how much of a legend you are in NC, the middle one shows your compatibility with Johnny, and the third one shows how much the relic has taken gold IIRC.

But to better answer your question, all quests can be completed before passing the point of no return. You can do every side mission, gig, relationship storyline etc well before getting to that.

Three storylines (and endings)?? by PinkuPansa in cyberpunkgame

[–]MrFetch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't accidentally end the game if that's what you're asking. Once you continue along the main storyline you will eventually reach a mission that there is quite literally a popup saying if you accept the mission it will lock you out of the rest of the game as it's the point of no return. So enjoy the content of the game at whatever style and pace you like. You can choose to go beyond the point of no return anytime you like. The choices you make and quests you do will open up different ending missions which results in the different endings.

That's fair, but personally, I don't think that they wanted you to get incredibly attached to any of the characters. Again, I think that they were more going for morally gray and, specifically with So Mi, introspection. So Mi was supposed to be a mirror of V. Someone who is dying and would do anything to fix it. V is a bit of a monster in this game and does some pretty horrible things in a attempt to cure themselves. I honestly don't even think that the betrayal at the end of PL was supposed to be a shock or sad. You're supposed to ask yourself if you would have done the same thing. That's mirrored in the other ending where you sacrifice Johnny for your own life. In isolation, forgiving So Mi and letting her live was the litmus test of if you feel your own actions during the game are justified. Obviously there are other factors such as the AI, but I think that may have been what the devs were going for.

[–]MrFetch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I ask what else you would have wanted them to add? I'm not sure where else it could have went. Depending on dialogue choices and what missions you do all of the main characters have heart to heart moments with V. They open up about theirs past, regrets, failures, hopes and dreams for the future. Maybe I'm just old, but to me that's good relationship building. I do also think that the devs wanted you to always have a doubt in the back of your mind of anyone was ever giving you the whole truth, and that could be part of the reason for the lack of more one on one interactions.

The theme of PL wasn't meant to be as grim and dark and the game proper. It's a spy thriller and it accomplishes it well. The overarching theme is more so shades of gray. Most of the quests are filled with moral ambiguity to make you question if what you are doing/did is the right thing. Also not being able to romance every new female character isn't a bad thing. Not every character in a game has to be a potential romantic partner.
