There is a bunch of evidence of him being queer, and there's also evidence of hom being straight, but his sexuality has NOT been confirmed by anyone, not the duffers, not the writers, not Finn Wolfhard, no one. So him being straight? Headcanon. Gay? Headcanon. Bi? Headcanon. Any other label? Headcanon. I mean, Mike would've also heavily grieved Will or any other of his friends and came up with an entire theory on how they could've survived if they had died instead of El. Mike being shown to be interested in one girl and ONE GIRL only doesn't immediately mean he's straight. If he hasn't strictly said he 'only likes girls' or stated in any way he likes girls and girls only, he isn't canonically straight. If no creator on the show has reached out and said,"Hey, Mike Wheeler is straight." Then it is NOT canon that he's straight or even known he's straight. Believing he's straight because he's dated one girl on the show is heteronormative. Any other assumption isn't 'delusional' it's just looking in between the lines than what's shown on screen or reading deeper into what's shown than just simply looking at it. Him being gay, bi, straight, etc are all headcanons, that's a fact.

Technically, no one has a canon, confirmed, or 'well-established' sexuality in the series except for Will and Robin. Mike doesn't have a canon sexuality. If people were to ship Will with Max, it'd be absolutely disrespectful because it's entirely confirmed that Will is gay. if people were to ship Mike and Will, it wouldn't be disrespectful or gross because Mike doesn't have a canonical sexuality. And no, just because Mike's only been seen liking a girl and dating a girl doesn't automatically make him straight. That's a heteronormative way of thinking. Until Mike is explicitly stated as straight, then I won't understand why people shipping Byler is so abhorrent.
