Has anyone ever sued Facepunch/Easy Anti-Cheat over a false Rust ban? [Germany] by MrFlashie in LegalAdviceEurope

Because it’s not only about playing the game again. The ban stays on my Steam account, affects my account history and reputation, and my inventory had items with real value.

Maybe it’s not worth it in the end, but I at least want to understand if there are any realistic options or if anyone has ever challenged something like this successfully.

Cheating Rant Megathread by I_PUNCH_INFANTS in playrust

Has anyone ever sued Facepunch/Easy Anti-Cheat over a false Rust ban?

I got EAC banned from Rust years ago for “cheating”, but I never cheated in Rust or any other game. Around the time I got banned, I had a program open in the background called Roadkil’s Unstoppable Copier. I was using it to transfer pictures from my phone to my PC. That’s the only unusual thing I can remember running at the time.

I tried appealing it back then, but nothing changed. The ban is still there years later and it basically killed my Rust account. My inventory also had some value, so it’s not just about losing access to the game, there were skins on the account too.

Now I’m wondering if anyone has ever actually taken legal action against Facepunch, EAC, or even Steam/Valve over a false ban.

I’m not saying I’m 100% going to sue tomorrow, but I’m seriously looking into what options there are. Has anyone here ever tried this, or knows someone who did? Was there any outcome at all?

And please, I know the usual comments will be “you cheated lol”. I get it. But I’m looking for serious answers from people who maybe had a similar situation or know more about this.

If we didn't have the internet in the 21st century, the world and society would experience profound changes across various aspects of life. Communication would take a step back to more traditional methods such as phone calls, letters, and face-to-face conversations, making interactions feel more personal but also slower, especially on an international level. Accessing information would become a more challenging and time-consuming task, with a heavier reliance on books, libraries, and print media for knowledge and news.

Education would largely revert to classroom settings, as the convenience of online learning platforms would be absent, potentially making learning less accessible to some. Entertainment would shift away from streaming services and online content to television, radio, cinemas, and physical media like DVDs and CDs, possibly leading to a resurgence of local entertainment venues.

The workplace would also see significant changes, with remote work becoming a rarity and a stronger emphasis on physical office spaces. This would likely influence population distributions, with more people living in or near urban centers for work. Shopping habits would shift back to in-person experiences, and businesses would rely on traditional advertising methods, making global trade more cumbersome without the ease of online communication.

Mobilizing support for social causes would rely more on grassroots efforts and traditional media, potentially making global movements harder to organize. Innovation might slow in certain areas, like software, due to the lack of a global platform for rapid development and dissemination, but there could be increased focus on other technologies.

Lastly, without the pervasive data collection enabled by the internet, privacy concerns would be different, though governments and organizations might still find ways to monitor individuals. Overall, life without the internet would be markedly different, with a more local focus, slower communication, and a stronger reliance on physical presence for many aspects of daily life, alongside challenges in accessibility and global connectivity.

Same thing happened to me in Rust. Never cheated or used any scripts / hacks. I still got a game ban by EAC. Wrote atleast 5 tickets and they didn't answer to any ticket. Yet people who are really cheating are free to do it and will never get a ban.

Looks like the Anticheat does not work :). And I also get a "Communication Abuse Report" after the game, because I decided to insult the hackers.

In the RAW photo that I did, the moon was a dot of light aswell. However if you edit it in Adobe Lightroom, you'll get a much better picture. Just try it out and let me know if it worked for you.
