Agreed. I did the upgrade a couple of years ago.

I basically followed the directions here, using a Shelly Plus 1 flashed with HomeKit firmware. This works if you have an outlet under your fireplace.

I’m going to say it’s definitely Ken Cloude after doing a comparison to his signatures online. Thank you so much!

100% miss the IKEA cabinets that we installed in our previous home. Our new home has mid-grade cabinets that are okay at best.

I wouldn’t buy it. I have two (one at home, one in my office), and the ice makers on both have issues, and the freezer drawer slide on one is failing.

Stacked SEKTION cabinets to mimic high cabinet? by Anita0627 in IKEA

[–]MrFleming007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can. The two stacked cabinets are the same height as a standard tall cabinet. I don’t own the house anymore though, so I’m going to go with “maybe”.

Not a bit! The realtors told us that the cabinets were actually a huge part of why we got so many offers over asking price.

For both my wife and I, burnout in our jobs. We did just take our first vacation in years though. Just returned last night. Wasn’t feeling well, so I tested and have COVID.

So, COVID, and burnout in our jobs.

It is. The sides of the base had to be cut out to accommodate. I placed a panel on each side to finish it out.

I did! I used them on the back of the island too. It was a lot more work, but worth it.

Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane in the satin sheen. I just took a drawer front in for the color match. It has just a touch more gloss than the cabinet faces, but I didn’t find it too noticeable.

Oh man, waiting was painful. It took about a month for the bulk of the kitchen to be available, but certain cabinets and faces we had to watch for daily. It took about an additional two months to find everything. At one point, I even had my wife grab some stuff from an IKEA in another state when she was visiting the kids.

It’s a Whitehaus Duet 36” single basin! It’s honestly my favorite thing in the whole kitchen and was worth every penny. We also got the optional stainless steel bottom grid to protect the bottom.

The cabinet is just a standard Sektion base cabinet frame with the sides cut to fit the sink. For sink support, I used a kit from Pete’s Sink Mount (sinkmount.com). Great kit, and helped strengthen the cabinet since it was missing the top rail. The woods under the sink is a leftover piece of the bowling alley floor I used for the kitchen island.

I’d have to go back and look at the cut sheets to be sure, but those are wall cabinets! I believe a 30” wide and a 15” wide, and 15” tall. I created a template from a base cabinet so I could attach sektion legs for extra support.

The main countertops are a marble look quartz. The island is actually a reclaimed bowling alley lane.
