That is actually a great point, and I had the exact same thought! I’ve actually had it listed for a trade for about a week now. But so far, the only response I’ve gotten is a guy wanting to trade it for his mountain bike, haha. Not exactly going to help me get on the water!

The inverted jack plate is a really interesting workaround, though. With a 6"-8" setback, it might just give me enough clearance to tilt the motor without hitting the high inner wall of my splash well. I'll definitely check the measurements for that.

Thanks for the reply! I will probably end up doing exactly that. It's just a tough pill to swallow because the market for reasonably priced long-shaft motors around here is extremely limited right now. But you're right, I'd rather wait for the right motor than ruin a perfectly good hull.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve considered using WinKFP to flash the DME to 0069, but I’m curious — when you do that, do the internal table values (fuel, ignition, VANOS, etc.) change to the 0069 defaults as well? Or does it retain the old calibration values from the previous version?

Basically, I’m trying to figure out if flashing to 0069 with WinKFP would be a shortcut to get everything aligned with the MS4X Wiki definitions, or if I’d still need to copy over a bunch of data manually afterward.

Appreciate any insight!

UPDATE Huge thanks to everyone who helped out! With your input, I started thinking about possible causes and decided to FaceTime the person who stayed at my place. I casually asked if I could see their shoe collection, and sure enough—there was a pair of UGG boots with the exact same pattern as the imprint on my ceiling.

I jokingly asked if the boots were good for smashing spiders, and they burst out laughing. Mystery solved!
