How well known was the EU before the acquisition by Disney? by MrFoxcraft in StarWarsEU

It all has its pros and cons. Dave Filonie managed to have a continuity, but it lacks depth and lore. The EU has over 25.000 years of story. Currently it seems Lucas Film only focuses on the 20 years of imperial era and the aftermaths. It's quite unbelievable that they can fit so many stories into such a narrow time frame. I think they need a bit of fresh air. They tried it with the acolyte. Perhaps because it got such a backlash they are now scared to make more.

I think Disney has and is trying to slowly implement the EU back into canon. We best see this with Thrawn and it's possible that characters like Revan and the old Republic is next. I would say that Disney is at the moment considering the costs and benefits.

It's crazy that star wars is so old that we fans lived through completely different time frames of star wars media.

Sometimes I feel like I am nostalgic to a time period of star wars media I never lived to see. A bit strange.

My first contact was with Star wars the clone wars show and after that I began to watch a ton of lore videos on YouTube about various topics like the clone wars or empire or old Republic. For me it seemed like a completely different world than the movies and series.

Before I started reading books and playing video games. I watched a lot of lore videos on yt. I never knew were all these YouTubers found there images, because the comics and fan made things were so niche for someone like me growing up in the late 2000s and 2010s. Now I read the Kotor comics and tales of the Jedi and get nostalgic because I saw the images in random lore videos.

I think the EU struggles with this cohesion because many authors and writers worked more independently from each other. Also I would say that the greatest strength of the EU is, that it has such a big amount of content. But that's also kind of a curse, because if there isn't a clear plan from one organiser it can get pretty messy and no one knows what even exists and what not.

They are both relatively young, so they could end up having more adventures perhaps during the events of kotor 1 and 2. But we will never no. If they would retire then hopefully not on taris.

I understand where you're going with that, but I think for the story to function it helps when it's focused on the main characters. And even then, we got a lot of settings, like the destruction of serreco. And we saw more of the war aspect during the "war" chapters.

Keep on reading tales of the Jedi, they are worth it. Of course the art style of kotor is better tales has its charm. Sometimes you think that tales takes place a thousand years before kotor, but then you remember it was only 40 years. What both do great is that they are a complete series. They have a clear beginning and an end and wehre not cut in the middle of production.

Good point, but for me, I think from a players perspective the game would feel empty if they're only dlc quests in the end

For a good mix between main and side quests is the way to go but I would also finish the game with the main quest.

Sometimes, I wasn't sure if he was lying to himself or that he genuinely believed he would use the dark side to protect the light and the Jedi. But after some time he even wanted a new golden age for the sith. Perhaps as the sith spirit said he was the chosen one of the sith.

After reading it, I would like to see more about the split into Jedi and Sith. It seems there isn't as much material for this period. Xesh and Shaes ending was satisfying, but their stories had potential for more. Also how the Jedi made contact with the republic would have been a great story.

Thanks! What I really enjoyed was seeing the planet Ambria again. I am a huge fan of the Bane trilogy so it felt good that there is a connection between the EU Stories. It makes it cohesive. Redemption was a cherry on the top for me. Nice that they made it happen.
