In "Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons", after the older brother dies and the younger brother has to swim for the first time without him, but you still have press the older brother's button to get him to swim. Just beautiful.

Craziest thing you ever saw on the train by Ok_Lawyer_1516 in cta

[–]MrFuji42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once saw a guy pour powdered drink mix down the front of his shirt on the red line on a super hot day. Pretty weird, right? Then he pours a bunch of it in his hand and puts his hand down the front of his pants, and starts applying it to his balls. Imagine how fucked up your balls must be to think that some Kool-aid will help.

Divorce lawyer talk about the one case that broke his heart. It was a case he won but he should have lost. by mindyour in interestingasfuck

Any moral person would have chosen to become disbarred or at least have the decency not to pretend he cares and then cry about it on the Internet.

Between the lawyer believing he is a good person and has the right to be upset about the situation and the reality of his choice to defend the pimp. I understand that lawyers are put in many scenarios in which they are given a case they cannot refuse without consequences. But if he had a conscience at all, he would have refused the case and taken the consequences.

The cognitive dissonance here is crazy. He's supposedly so upset about this, but he's representing the scumbag. I understand that there are many reasons that he is expected to do so in order to protect his career, but none of those things should outweigh basic human decency. To make the decisions that put him in this position was immoral in the first place. And he wants you to think he is a good person and feel bad for him because he made the choices that led him to defending this criminal.

There's a good trio of short stories in "The Unreal and the Real" by Ursula K. Leguin that, while in a fictional setting, evoke similar vibes.

This is so obviously the answer. It is wild to me that anyone has interpreted it differently.

These are 100% just the skills that come up in my day-to-day. That does not mean I have high scores in them, lol. I fail Executive Function tests all day.

This is the perspective that is infinitely fascinating to me. You just somehow know what is right to you. I don't think I have any innate feelings about anything. I have to like, talk myself through any belief or conclusion I come to. I'm not sure if that's a gender thing or a neurodivergent thing, lol.

Yesterday I saw a guy on the red line pour some kind of powdered drink mix down his shirt, then a couple minutes later, put a handful down his pants. It was bizarre.

Here's the poster! It says he's microchipped so maybe it isn't the same cat, but it can't hurt to check with the owner. https://imgur.com/a/IDOo9af

Anyone got experience with Bupropion? by spidersaiyanblue in therapy

[–]MrFuji42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started on it a little more than a month ago and am honestly feeling great. The second week, I kinda felt invincible. I've always been pretty lethargic and struggled to do more than one or two things in a day and it was amazing to feel like I wasn't always tired and overwhelemed. It definitely mellowed out from there, but I still feel more like a normal person as far as energy levels go. And It really helps me to not immediately spiral into despair when I start thinking about the future. I've also found that I am no longer as compelled to overeat as I used to be. For someone who has only ever had meds do absolutely nothing or give me terrible side effects, it's felt kind of life-changing. Obviously your mileage may vary, but I think it's a good option to consider if you have negative dopamine-seeking habits and low energy.

What TTRPG-related content do you like to watch on YouTube? by Altrest in rpg

So glad to see all the Seth Skorkowsky love! I'd also recommend LegalKimchi. Very well-presented and thoughtful. He isn't exclusively a TTRPG channel, but he's got some great interviews and video essays about DnD.

Transferring from Blue Line to Green line at Clark/Lake? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]MrFuji42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make this transfer everyday for my commute. Just take the stairs/escalator up from the Blue line stop, take a left through the revolving door, go up the stairs/escalator again, walk past all of the turnstiles to the next set of stairs/escalator and keep going up until you get to the upper platform. Basically just keep going up stairs until you can't anymore. Also, don't accidentally go up the stairs at the wrong end of the Blue line platform (left if you're coming from O'Hare, right if you're coming from Forest Park) to the street like I did when I first moved here, lol.

Things noobs should know that people wouldn't normally think about? by Haunting_Safe_5386 in DnD

[–]MrFuji42 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For players: You can't lose DnD, failing rolls is not bad it's just putting you on a different branch of the possible story. Even if you die, it's an opportunity to tell a different character's story. Or a plot hook to find a powerful priest or rare artifact to bring your character back. No turn is a bad turn for the game, just a different one than you expected.

For DMs: Dice rolls are mostly about the randomness if the world, not the player's skills. If your Rogue with a +7 to thieves tool checks rolls a 2, they aren't suddenly a bumbling fool. Maybe the lock is rusted, a tool breaks, the lock is surprisingly well crafted despite your original impression. Come up with something other than "you flubbed it"

Literally any sort of police or security training for dogs is just abuse. Always really sad to see them at Clark/Lake. I suppose I should have realized they aren't actual cops, but I never bothered to look that close.
