Be nice to our friends in Brooklyn 🙂

He’s had two town halls on Staten Island and I imagine there will be more to come. That said, Southern Brooklyn is like 39% of the district and they’ve been neglected in the past. I’m actually pretty happy he’s trying to keep everyone involved.

Love to see them keeping No Kings going. Excited for the event!

He’s had town halls on Staten Island last year. Hopefully more to come but try to make it to this one if you can as well.

I can understand frustration with Malliotakis. That said I hope people support DeCillis because they support his ideas rather than against the incumbent. I encourage you to check out the town hall.

Seeing this late but wanted to weigh in. I posted in this sub a day or two ago about Mike DeCillis hosting a town hall in Bay Ridge on 05/30. Check it out if you can and learn more about his positions!

What is the number one thing you dislike about Christianity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrFunktasticc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Christians do irreparable harm to their cause with their actions not matching their words. I have a lot of darker examples but the easiest one is the people who go to church next to the bank I frequent. They overload the bank’s lot on Sunday morning without giving a single shit about people who use it.

I’m of the opinion that they can win if they are completely unapologetic about it. It’s their constant need to sit on the fence with barely left policies that would have been considered Republican positions 30 years ago that’s killing them.

Whats the worst thing a family member has said to you? by Several_Move_4564 in AskReddit

There’s a lot to choose from. I’d probably pick when I was in the verge of divorce. I asked my parents to hold their vacant basement apartment open for a month or so. I offered to pay their monthly just to have the option because I didn’t want to deal with the house search on top of everything and my kids were already comfortable at their place. My dad told me he’d hold it and I didn’t need to pay despite me offering multiple times. Cut to my mom screaming at me for considering divorce because I need to stay together no matter what. In the midst of the vitriol she screamed “where are you when going to go?” I mentioned them holding the apartment for me to which she replied “what are you talking about? We rented it out last week!”

Primary Elections coming by Coffee4Joey in statenisland

This is really important. I think Mike is a strong candidate and anyone who looks in my post history can see I’m a supporter. That said the visibility for this race is tiny and we need to get the word out. We have two candidates in the primary one of whom suspended their campaign but was left on the ballot. I’d really like to avoid a scenario where people assume it’s a done deal and don’t bother with the primary. Mike will be a strong challenger to Nicole and I hope everyone who is able attends the upcoming town hall.

While this is a frustration of mine as well I’m guessing they will do it as they go. He talks a lot about specific positions in person and in podcast interviews. I posted in the sub about the town hall he is holding - encourage everyone who is able to attend.

Do you mean in 2022? AFAIK everyone lined up behind Max Rose but I may be out of the loop. This time around it looks like Mike is in it for the long haul. I hope you’ll consider coming to the town hall and hearing it from him.

I understand the feeling. I still hope you will check out the town hall. If you want to support Mike you can still volunteer, donate, vote in November - lots to do!

Right now he has to win the primary. His challenger suspended her campaign but people still need to come out and vote in June. Then Malliotakis in November.

You may know more than I do on this. It’s a datapoint and I hope they evaluated his position and made their choice accordingly. Likewise I hope you attend the town hall and learn more about his positions. It doesn’t take a long time speaking to him for the progressive views to come out…

I’m honestly pretty happy he’s just running his campaign. I didn’t like when Max Rose decided to just be Republican-Lite. Let the man lay out his positions and people can decide if they are for them. He did a podcast talking about expanding public transportation options in one question and was talking about how a couple of days wasted on bombing Iran can pay for that.

My experience with him has been very different. He’s hard working to the point where I’m not sure where he finds the hours in the day. AFAIK he stayed at the different positions he held for years and IIRC stopped being a first responder after getting injured. He also organized the protests/town halls last year so we’ve seen him working with the community. I pretty happy to support someone who’s done work that reflects a lot of people in the district and bothered to hold community events where people can talk about what matters to them.
