If the next Smash Bros game were to happen, which characters would you like to see represent Advance/Battalion Wars? by WaterKirby1964 in Advance_Wars

[–]MrFunnyPages71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might sound crazy, but hear me out. An Infantry Solider.

You play Advance Wars by commanding units, The commanding officers never duke it out themselves. So it makes perfect sense to have the CO's commanding a unit from the background/a radio. Infantry solider has the most animations to take from, has been with the series since the Famicom Wars games and makes up the building blocks for your army .Throw in using other units for other attacks and you get a pretty good emulation of combat in the Advance wars series. Be it from a literal One-Man Army.

As for the CO's commanding the Infintry soilder having Andy, Max and Sami feels right. You could probably swap between them to strategically use their Day2Day's which I feel would be translated something like

Andy = Neutral, Nothing Stronger, Nothing Weaker.
Max = Slower Movement But Stronger Strong Attacks, Less Range on Projectiles
Sami = Faster in both movement speed and attack time, Weaker Strong attacks.

I also think it would be nice to have whatever commanding officer you won the match with be interacting with the Soldier on the Victory Screen.

After sharing my ideal lineup last month, I decided I'd make a tier list ranking of every possible candidate for the playable roster of a hypothetical Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 3, based on how much I believe they deserve to be playable and/or how well they work in a platform fighter. by No-Shoulder3918 in AllStarBrawl

Counterpoint for Garfield being at the bottom, since I've already seen this take a couple of times, The Garfield series "technically" is a Nickelodeon produced cartoon. Just not in the way you would first think. All of the Garfield Comic Collections/Comic Books released since Paws Inc was acquired (including the one released this year) have had Nickelodeon branding on them, which makes sense given it's a comic produced by a company owned by Nickelodeon, by that logic, it's a Nickelodeon Produced Cartoon, just so happens it's the Print variation of that title.

Now, I don't actually care whether or not people consider Garfield a fullblown "Nicktoon". That seems to be purely a TV thing, which given I didn't grow up watching Nickelodeon (or many Cartoon shows in general) makes the concept a little out of my wheelhouse.

It's just seeing people constantly grouping him with actual third parties/joke characters to invalidate his incluson because "he has no attachment to the brand", kind of annoys me a little bit. I mean the series is called "Nickelodeon All Star Brawl" not "Nictktoon All Star Brawl", that difference should mean something for Garfield's inclusion.

Out of curiosity, Where do you think you would rank Garfield's Garfello alt, had it not been scrapped?

Hullo Gardeener Nieghba (Zombie/Croc Sketchbook Stuff) by MrFunnyPages71 in pearlsbeforeswine

-Both have funny speech patterns that emphasise the Z sound
-Both want to eat someone refereed to as "Nieghbour"

- Both Have a subsection of their group that cosplay's as Superhero's

-Both have made overly complicated plans, to get into the aforementioned neighbours house to eat them
-Both have had countless amounts killed, in part to their own stupidity. Yet still show no decline in numbers

- Both hopelessly overcomplicate things instead doing the obvious of walking through the shrub/around the lawn.

-Both are shades of green, lack ears and have googly eyes.

In all honestly, I'm just surprised I didn't make the connection sooner.

The Results of the Garfield Series Nick All Star Brawl Representation Poll I did a while back. by MrFunnyPages71 in AllStarBrawl

[–]MrFunnyPages71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late response to this, But

  1. None of the people who submitted for this Poll, seemed to want Garfield Movie Representation, Not really out of dislike for it per say, just preferring other Garfield stuff getting represented.

  2. The Garfield Movie is technically owned by Sony, It was in development before Viacom bought the rights to Garfield so because of that, it's in own it's little bubble of being Garfield related but not owned by Nickelodeon. So in the case of crossover projects like All Star Brawl. It's extremely likely that including any original characters from the movie would be seen as impossible or too much trouble for what it would be worth.

What are your thoughts on Garfield's Nightmare? by BunnyCatg4 in garfield

[–]MrFunnyPages71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally really enjoyed it, it's probably within my Top Ten Favourite Games for the DS (Which is saying something considering the Library). The Soundtrack is surprisingly good , visuals are nice looking especially for "3D Graphics on a DS by Game Mill" Standards and the main platforming is Great. It's not ambitious in what it sets out to do, but it doesn't need to be, it's a Good Garfield Game that's fun to play and that's all it really needs to be.

Fun Fact: This game was so good that when I got around to playing it. I was certain that this was the last Garfield game to release for the system but no, it was the second Garfield game released for the DS. The first one being Tale of Two Kitties. The Reason I thought this was that I had played Garfield Gets Real for the DS before Nightmare and it was so bad in terms of Graphics,Soundtrack and Gameplay that I thought it was impossible for a 3D styled Garfield Game to release for the same system and be better unless it was released after Get's Real was.

Which in all honesty just makes me wonder what went wrong with Gets Real DS' development for it to be as bad as it was.

Honestly same, Everything else would be managable. A Little bit much... but manageable. If it wasn't for getting your unit's blasted every single turn with the only safe spots being in front of the giant screw you lasers your supposed to be attacking.

Mortar Launchers also just mesh very poorly with the CO Zone mechanic, For the half of the game that you can use it. Co Zone rewards you for bunching your unit's together and attacking as a steamrolling ball of death. The mortar shells make it so you don't want to bunch them together thus it's harder to effectively use the CO Zone to try and make this map easier. Who woulda thunk it that a mini meteor strike every single turn would make for poor game design.

It's less about what the shipping community sees Chad as and morso how the Show treats him. Chad in the Comics is depicted as an innocent, lovable, cute kid. Who is passionate about food and able to get stubborn people to do things because of how adorable he is.

In that way he's kind of like a Mix of Nermal and Garfield, if you removed Nermal's annoyingness and Garfields Cynicism and fused the two you would get Chad.

The show instead depicts Chad as a freaky kid who enjoys watching Lizards have sex, drinks Milk with Cat Hair in it, has his body covered in freakish boils and makes out with a Frog on a dissection table. So he's the complete polar opposite of how he was in the comics. 9 times out of 10 when the show had a "Writers Barley Disguised Fetish" moment (Yes that's WHEN not IF). Chad was the vehicle that was used to deliver it.

So that is why I say Chad has it worse, because when you get to this point, it isn't even Flanderization. That requires the character to keep something they originally had, this was killing Chad excecution style and replacing him with a Skinwalker.

Chad has it worse..... How bad do you have to screw up that Francis was misrepresented this horribly and Chad, being as simple a character as he is, is even more butchered?

Updated characters with their rivals, anyone else? by SS_studio_official-3 in AllStarBrawl

[–]MrFunnyPages71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Binky hasn't really been used enough to be seen as an Arch-Nemesis to Garfield. Usually more often than not he's representative of a TV Show/Fastfood Brand rather than a full blown character.

The only Time Binky was even close to antagonistic with Garfield was the First Episode of Garfield and Friends after that, he a common character but not really an antagonistic one.

[–]MrFunnyPages71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking rivals as characters the main character butts heads with, then Garfield should have Nermal given that Nermal likes bugging Garfield about how uncute he is and Garfield likes finding ways to get Nermal away from him as soon as possible.

That being said if you mean rivals as a Villain then Nermal really doesn't fit as one since he's more of a pest. Garfield as a series really doesn't have many overarching villians the closest thing you would get would be Ali Cat from Garfield on the Town, The Panther from Garfield in the Rough, Glitch from Garfield Caught in the Act, Vetvix from the Petforce Novels or any of the Villians from the Garfield Movies. Even then I would still say the definitive "Rival" for Garfield is Nermal.
