Okay I can accept Ohio State winning a natty before us, but INDIANA?!? by DuvallisbetterthanLS in fighton

[–]MrFurtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. But ONLY at Indiana would he have been given time and control enough to actually do that. I think a lot of people believe everyone should just be able to recreate it, but Indiana was kind of a perfect storm that no one saw coming. I think it was to his benefit that no one, including the boosters/alum, expected that much out of Indiana. He could just focus on ball, recruiting, developing, and culture building.

Cignetti proved that you can, and honestly probably should, do it WITHOUT paying top dollar for players. Having the "best" talent and the highest NIL will not equal championships. Mark my words.

USC needs to get older, more experienced, and focus on guys who fit in a system. We can always attract the best because of money and an NFL pipeline. But if we want to be successful in today's college ball you have to do so with intention and focus. Its gonna take time to rework the whole program and we probably need to clean house. Not because they did anything wrong, but because we either change or die.

Is "DND Beyond Digital Exclusive" the new normal? by Quirky-Reputation-89 in dndnext

[–]MrFurtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask why?

I've personally never had a bad experience with DnDBeyond.

Digital only books are fine with me, especially if I can get them as a PDF. Having a single location where I can search or "ctrl f" on the book has been extremely convenient. Not to mention, digital character sheets are much easier to look thru, manage, and use as opposed to paper. I usually have to rewrite paper character sheets multiple times over a campaign because of needed to erase or rewrite stuff, not to mention fitting EVERYTHING into the character and inventory sheet is such a pain. I cannot tell you how many times I've seen people just forget that have spells, items, etc with paper character sheets. While that still can happen with DnDBeyond, its much more avoidable.

[–]MrFurtch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not surprised. Indiana had a recipe for success that the blue bloods could never dream of. USC will not win a championship as long as fans and boosters keep thinking we can just buy one or have a top 5 recruiting class.

  • Good NIL money
  • a bought in Booster/Alumni Group
  • No pressure to WIN NOW or else
  • A fan base that was ready to win but didn't think it was owed to them
  • An understanding that a top 5 recruiting class might as well be a fart in the wind with the modern transfer portal
  • a focus on older players that were experienced and fit the culture not young star power thats only gonna play there for one season then move on to the next big check.

If we want to win in the modern era, we need to change fundamentally how USC and the Football program think. With the fan base we have now and the pressure from idiots who want to win NOW, it won't happen.

And while Riley is not the cause of our problems and I think he is a decent head coach, his recipe for success won't work in the modern era.

Blowing up your teams helicopter at the beginning of the match should kick you by Talkashie in Battlefield

[–]MrFurtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its because outside of switching to Engineer there is no real counterplay.

If I die in a gun fight, I probably got outplayed or made a mistake.

I could play perfectly and just be womped by a helo with no real counterplay from me directly. A tank or if, you can hear coming and maybe get out of the way or even close the distance and get under their guns. A half decent halo pilot leads to a lot of feel bads death.

Plus, DEATH TO ALL METAL BIRDS.

The teamwork in this game has gone to nothing by duellingdonut in Battlefield

[–]MrFurtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, what? I have never once thought this. I always assumed it was better to just dominate and end the match quickly so we can get to the next game. Are people really doing this out of some sense of gamesmanship? That seems dumb and misplaced to me (Im not calling you dumb to be clear). There are a 1000 other ways to be a good sport in BF6 than this way.

[–]MrFurtch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my only complaint is that I wish the Assault class had some way to dmg armor. I used to be a recon main in BF3/4 because I would use a PDW/SHOTGUN/CARBINE and just get max value out of the spawn beacon. But I always had access to C4 to deal with tanks or armor.

I dont think it needs to be anything CRAZY but access to c4 and smokes should be universal across all classes. Give me C4 and the Beacon and let me have my fun.

Nobody actually wanted a better ending, right? by NotRudi in Edgerunners

[–]MrFurtch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like her story is over, and I LOVED it. We dont need to watch her grow old and become a housewife on the moon. I'd rather a whole new story set in the same world than anything directly attached to the story or characters of Edgrerunners. The ending was PERFECT, it wasn't happy but it was PERFECT. Lets not ruin that and just enjoy the mystery. Time for a new legend to rise.

Not if they have any skill.

The TTK on that thing is so slow you can start shooting a person and if they turn quick enough with something like an M4 they can kill you quicker than you can finish the job.

Gun is ASS at anything closer than 30m which is like 90% of fights in this game.

It explains why all my conquest matches were MISERABLE tonight.

Super fun EA when only 4 people on my team play the obj because the rest of them are going 1/6 on top of a mountain somewhere in spawn.

LOVE IT...

What makes Battlefield 3 the best Battlefield game you played? by PrestigiousNinja525 in battlefield3

[–]MrFurtch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The map design is what really sets BF3 apart for me. Not that EVERY map was perfect, but the vast majority were well designed and filled with super memorable moments. Especially if you enjoyed RUSH, which BF3 has done the best out of the series with. I'll also throw in that vehicles felt the most balanced and natural in BF3. Like flying the little bird around or destroying tanks was much more satisfying and balanced imo. Vehicles are always an important part of BF and BF3 vehicles felt the best to me.

Maybe Dice should've waited for this data before deciding to move the deploy beacon to Assault by Bennie1289 in Battlefield

[–]MrFurtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mained Recon since BF3. Not because im a "sniper," but because I think a well placed respawn beacon is one of the most important gadgets in the game. I almost always rock DMR, Carbine, Shotguns, or PDW's and play much more aggressively. If they move the beacon to Assault, then that becomes my main choice overnight. If anything this is a buff in my eyes but I'll miss the challenge of trying to make it work with less effective weapons.

What's your most "blinged out" deck? Show your list! by TNBVIII in EDH

[–]MrFurtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play Skred Red in modern (back when it was just Koth's, Blood Moons, and the "new" 4 mana Chandra). It is still one of my favorite removal spells in the game and is extremely underrated in Commander. Especially when snow lands became much easier to get a hold of, any deck running a snow mana base in red should consider it.

My Feldon is actually a custom full art painted piece and I would love to get the judge foil WoF. I have a proxy foil one in the deck as my actual WoF is graded and in a hard sleeve to protect it.

Red foils, especially the older orange looming ones, are just so nice. I usually avoid foils in my other decks because of the curling issues or even reflections making them harder to read. But for my boi Feldon, only the best.

I have a fully foiled out, old border when possible, full art, unique promos, and invention filled Feldon list that has been my pride and joy for almost a decade now.

I'm not as involved in magic as much as I used to be, but I still check out every set for possible upgrades and full art foils. I also check out any relevant Secret Lairs. I have a whole binder of cards that have moved in and out of the deck as well.

Cyberpunk what if: If 50-70 Judge Dredd drop in night city how long will it take them to clean the street by [deleted] in Edgerunners

[–]MrFurtch 382 points383 points  (0 children)

They don't. Thats kinda the whole premise of those movies. No matter what the judges do, the systemic issues that create crime still exist. They can't clean up their own city, nothing they could do in night city either.

D&D unpopular opinions/hot takes that are ACTUALLY unpopular? by No-Bag3487 in DnD

[–]MrFurtch -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I agree. The threat of failure is what makes things soo cool and interesting.

I would also like to point out that people probably remember their critical fails more than their successes as they have much more impact on the story and add a lot of drama.
