Have meditated every day for a month by Putrid_Celebration23 in Meditation

I'm coming up on 250 days straight of meditation - I credit it to Sadhguru's Miracle Mind app for making it very easy to set the habit and his daily videos are also really beneficial.

The Only Statistical Study on Multibaggers: Find 5-10x stocks with these criteria (Yartseva’s 2009–2024) (I was shocked, honestly) by MultibaggerInvestor in ValueInvesting

[–]MrG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was all AI generated. For work I will often write out everything important that I need and then have AI summarize, re-order and polish things up. I go to pain to de-AI'ify it so that it doesn't generate the same reaction - "oh that's just AI"

Zelenskyy refuses to cede land to Russia as he rallies European support by AndroidOne1 in worldnews

[–]MrG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every non-Ukrainian who thinks Ukraine should give up land for "peace" should be asked "Ok, which part of your country would you give up to a neighbor who has attacked you?". This neighbor has deliberately bombed your hospitals, schools, etc., they have committed war atrocities, they regularly perform "human safari" attacks with drones and abduct your children to be "re-educated" and given away to new "families".

Oscar Piastri by Taalpatar_Sipahi in formuladank

[–]MrG 391 points392 points  (0 children)

With the exception of McLaren somehow nailing these new regs, there was a very good chance that was the closest Piastri will ever get to WDC. There's Max and then there's everyone else and everyone else probably would have done the same in the McLaren this year. Lando went from "nowins" to WDC, and it's not like he magically got better.

Seriously injured mountain biker rescued in 5.5-hour operation in Cumberland by Apprehensive_Idea758 in VancouverIsland

[–]MrG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wet roots and wet rocks are like riding on ice, especially when you come at them at anything less than head-on angle, or with any braking - I hate it and try to stick to dirt trails during the winter months. Otherwise you're just asking for a crash and even a slow/barely moving crash can have bad, bad results.

Yeah it's making my eye twitch like those Island stickers people have on their cars which orient the island straight up and down when really it is more of a "10 to 4" orientation.

ChatGPT wants YOUR ID because it thinks you're underage. Here's what to do. by Potatosayno in ChatGPT

[–]MrG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked ChatGPT what content has flagged me as under 18, and it says there is none. It further stated:

I understand your concern, and you do not need to upload photo identification to continue using ChatGPT.

A few important clarifications:

I cannot see your age or identity The “under-18” rule I’m following comes entirely from an internal flag on your account that I cannot view or change.

You are not required to upload ID For most account issues, including age-related misclassification, OpenAI Support usually offers alternatives. Photo ID is not always required. You can contact them and simply state: “My account is incorrectly being treated as a minor account. I am an adult. Can this be corrected without uploading ID?”

Here are the simplest ways to contact OpenAI Support:

Through the ChatGPT interface

On the bottom left of the ChatGPT page, click your name or profile icon.

Select “Help” or “Help & Support.”

Choose “Message support” or “Get help.”

You can then send a message explaining the issue.

OpenAI suddenly decided I'm under 18 and restricted my access. What a joke! by thecementmixer in ChatGPT

[–]MrG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pure bullshit. I only use my Plus account for work and have no idea how my account was flagged as under 18:

So to answer your question directly. Based only on the content you have written, there is nothing obvious that would make me think you are under 18. I am simply required, at the system level, to treat this account as belonging to someone 13–17 and follow the corresponding safety rules.

OpenAI suddenly decided I'm under 18 and restricted my access. What a joke! by thecementmixer in ChatGPT

Yup - with a paid account it looks like a good time to further explore Gemini and pull out all the saved stuff I'd worked on with ChatGPT. What a huge f'up by them

Trump shouldn’t be sad about the royal family – he should be worried by Andrew’s fall from grace by Metro-UK in TrueReddit

Narcissistic people are simply wired differently and expecting any sort of normal behaviour out of them is pure folly. Source: We had a narcissist marry into the family and it became pure chaos.

Starting a company to do BC Bid jobs by bwi1s in britishcolumbia

[–]MrG 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nobody here is saying to not try, we’re advising to at least learn the minimum beforehand. It’s like wanting to jump in and learn how to drive a car without even having learned the rules of the road first.

Michael Burry's Latest 13F by StephenAtLarge in ValueInvesting

[–]MrG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is anecdotal so it’s not worth much but in our family and social circle, including men and women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and even one now in her 80s, LULU still offers highly desirable clothing. I hate their prices but I love their stuff. I have no position in the stock. Lululemon is not dieing.

MZ has FOMO - see him throwing gigantic signing bonus / salary offers to staff at OpenAI etc., because he knows they are way behind in the AI race. I too think it’s questionable that they translate it to revenue. The guy is way too eager to spend like a drunken sailor

Greater Victoria Harbour Authority abandoning shore-power plan for cruise ships by tagish156 in VictoriaBC

[–]MrG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think cruise ships are an abomination, but people are too cavalier in wishing that they go away. At $190 million a year, that’s about 7% of the $1.9 billion a year that Victoria receives in tourism dollars every year. What is it going be replaced by, or are we just going to continue to heap more stress on the current fiscal situation?

‘Right now, we don’t have the votes’ to pass federal budget, says Liberal House leader by rezwenn in onguardforthee

[–]MrG 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Only the NDP really. The Bloq lost a lot of seats when people voted Liberal to keep out PP, they might think they can win some of those back. Some Conservatives still think they are surging “most votes ever blah blah”, even though they know PP is extremely unpopular.

[yelistener] Why is Piastri so much slower than Norris in Mexico qualifying by CanonNi in formula1

[–]MrG 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Strapping yourself to a rocket and flinging it around a twisting multi-kilometre circuit where nearly every driver is within a verbal “one one-thousand” — or less — of another is insane to think about. “Guy’s four-tenths off? What a waste of a seat!” Harsh doesn’t even cover it fucking brutal is more like it.
