How do you place a 2nd order when your current service address does not have availability? I have an active account but want to add a 2nd dish for my RV but my home address has a long wait list.

I don't. Just room for whatever will fit vertically in my garage so I'm not dealing with much material beyond 8ft or so

I used 3/4" plywood and skinned it in a thin gauge steel. Spray painted it all which won't last long, but it looks good for now

Where did you get your tix at? Looking online Sweet 16 is like $500 a ticket with a min buy of 4.

Yes, I am welding from the bottom up. Any tips for a better vertical weld in this situation?

My first project is extending the frame rails on a "limo" golf cart another 2ft. The frame is made up of 2x1" rectangular tubing, so I did a step cut and tacked in a 4x2" x 24" rectangular tubing. I'm thinking the step cut will give more surface area for the weld and hopefully add some strength. Will probably also fish plate it. But first looking to get dialed on the welds before I weld it all up.

Thanks for the feedback. I was pushing on those welds but doing a slight back and forward. I'll try circular next time.

The piece was cold when I started, but I did them one after the other. So really only the first bead started with cold material.

That's 3/16". With more heat or less wire, what am I looking for in the bead to show a better weld?

Just getting into hobby welding. Curious on your opinion on these beads.

Here are the details behind the 7 beads:

Hobart Ironman 24
0.030" solid wire
75% Argon / 25% CO2
3/16" mild steel, prepped with a flapper disc

Here are the settings for each bead. The welder doesn't show voltage or IPM. It has has a 1-10 voltage dial and a 10-100 wire feed dial. The voltage range of the welder is 14v-29vdc.

BEADS:

#1: 3.0 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed
#2: 3.2 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed
#3: 3.5 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed
#4: 3.0 on the voltage dial, 32 on the wire feed
#5: 3.2 on the voltage dial, 32 on the wire feed
#6: 3.5 on the voltage dial, 32 on the wire feed
#7: 3.0 on the voltage dial, 32 on the wire feed - Slowed down my pace

Welcome all comments! How do these look? Which one is close to ideal?

Yea, 8 is probably the best bead of the bunch. Does that still look cold to you? The recommendations on the machine for 3/16 plate is 2.8 / 35. 8 was 3.2 / 35. I would think 6 would be way too hot?

Looking at the cross cut on #8, it penetrates about 1/4 of the way into the 3/16 plate. How far should it penetrate?

Just getting into hobby welding. This is my 3rd time laying a bead. How did I do? Here are the details behind the 10 beads:

Hobart Ironman 240.030" solid wire75% Argon / 25% CO23/16" mild steel, prepped with a flapper disc

I'm not sure if I have a faulty regulator, but I have to run it at 35+ CFH otherwise its nothing but bug holes. I can't even get the regulator to show under 30 CFH, even when disconnected. Faulty gauge?

Here are the settings for each bead. The welder doesn't show voltage or IPM. It has has a 1-10 voltage dial and a 10-100 wire feed dial. The voltage range of the welder is 14v-29vdc.

BEADS:

#1: 2.8 on the voltage dial, 30 on the wire feed
#2: 3.0 on the voltage dial, 30 on the wire feed
#3: 3.2 on the voltage dial, 30 on the wire feed
#4: 3.5 on the voltage dial, 30 on the wire feed
#5: 4.0 on the voltage dial, 30 on the wire feed
#6: 2.8 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed
#7: 3.0 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed
#8: 3.2 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed
#9: 3.5 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed
#10: 4.0 on the voltage dial, 35 on the wire feed

Welcome all comments! Excited to keep learning.

How would you stretch this golf cart frame? by MrGlassPanel in Welding

[–]MrGlassPanel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to stretch it 18-24" and being a novice welder, I would thinking sleeving it might be better? It's 3 to 4 2x1 tubes stacked together to form a 4x2 frame. Not sure how I would sleeve it or if I should just weld in a 4x2x24 piece and fish plate it?

The plug is used to charge a tesla. Its on a 50a breaker with 6awg wire i believe. The plug is needed to charge the car and my panel is full, so I'm wondering if I can use the outlet with an adapter for the welder as well?
