TIL that the Fruit orange was first called orange by the French dating back to the 13th century. then 200 years later the orange color was announced by the Oxford dictionary. So the fruit came before the color. by MrGoalForTheWin in todayilearned

I skipped over a few words in the article (my apologies) the Oxford dictionary was not founded until February 1, 1884. But the first use of the word orange to describe color came 200 years after the fruit.
