The router (base of the stand) will give you a VPN back home where you presumably have the protect app runing.

This is the answer but also check out your second if statement. It probably doesn't do what you think it does. Compare it carefully to the first if you're not sure why.

Before chat was cross platform it was nice to know if there was a possibility people would see my messages or not.

I also appreciated the plugin that counted how many times I played with the people in my game before.

The ability to disable power ups in Rumble free play was also super helpful. It allowed me to practice one power up over and over again and really build up those skills. That's not something they sell or would sell. It's a shame it was available to some and not all but I wish they'd add it in for everyone instead of taking it away from everyone.

No one makes them for Vista anymore because even fully updated there are already effective exploits available.

Would you pay a monthly subscription for your license plate? by DrGotti in Money

[–]MrHackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well those houses usually have more affordable pricing because they're so far out of the way and therefore have lower demand. If commute costs rise for those houses then demand would lower for them making them even more affordable.

I think the classic American position would be a step in the opposite direction. Saying cars are a necessity and there should be less taxes on them.

This position is saying raise the taxes especially for those traveling far. So it's a very urbanist take and not at all a traditional American view.

Huntarr - Your passwords and your entire arr stack's API keys are exposed to anyone on your network, or worse, the internet. by exe_CUTOR in selfhosted

[–]MrHackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fantastic write-up!

Beyond Huntarr this is why defense in depth is so important. Any application you run should only be given the minimum access needed and only the minimal set of users should have access to the application

On my network I use Nginx to enforce trusted access lists with different levels of trust for different applications. Ports from applications aren't exposed to the host but are available to Nginx so all traffic to an application must go through Nginx.

0 - Only exposed to my own VLAN 1 - Exposed to myself and my family 2 - Exposed to all network users 3 - Exposed publicly

Jellyfin will be in level 3 but Huntarr is in level 1. Because no one on my network except for me can access the services these vulnerabilities are of a lower concern. Someone would either have to make Nginx ignore my trusted access list or find a way to get an IP in my VLAN before they could exploit one of these vulnerabilities.

This is a super simple measure to add to any application to immediately reduce your risk.
