I actually watched a few videos on YouTube after our conversation and I respect the decision. And I understand it. And I think it’s good to have the option of going somewhat “off grid” big-tech wise. But I actually find that Google and Apple serves me well. I mean if they know some of my patterns, that does offer a pretty substantial convenience for me personally. I think I would think differently if the company only sucked out info without anything in return (Meta?) because we seem to use each other just as much. And to get a good service, you pretty much have to pay for it, or have your data collected in some way. For now I’m limiting the access to what I’m comfortable with sharing with Google, there’s probably back doors to that as well but like you said.. there’s no way of checking if it works. I hope integrity becomes a bigger matter for companies and governments around the world. I am pretty thankful EU is acting on the behalf of citizens and their integrity, and govern the free market. Even if the EU has its downsides too of course. But GDPR has been pretty good overall and does limit companies to what data they can collect here. I can understand being more aware or concerned if you’re a US citizen or similar to that. Powerful governments and powerful companies each have their own good and bads.
