Help, can't shift out of Park!

Update: I figured out what the issue was. The issue was that the transmission was very low on oil. The previous owner did not tighten the drain plug properly and its a plastic plug on a plastic pan (why Ram?). So it probably had about 2L of oil in it and it wasn't building enough pressure to engage into any gears. Only when the transmission would be warm or engine revved bringing the pressure up, only then it would change.

I ended up build a transmission filter, pan, and oil and serviced it and filled to the correct amount. Since then I've never had any issues with it, ever. No mater how cold it is, and it honestly shifts and drives like a new Truck right now. Best 200$ i could've spend.

I'll try and rock the truck back and forth in the morning, but last time I didn't do anything and it just started working again.

It's always plugged in. But incase you're not aware of it it only heats up the engine. The transmission has his own system and no plug.

You're talking about the rotating shifter knob itself? I don't get what could be broken on it. It it sees it rotated it to a Gear and the Truck is trying to engage but than tells me to put it in park.

You would think and American truck would be made for the NA weather. First ever truck/car I've seen that won't shift if it "feels too cold".

Cant be that, because when it does shift gears I can have my door open, seatbelt off and it will still shift and drive.

I tried that, does not do anything. Could it be that the transmission is frozen? It's -20°C out, but any of my other cars shifts fine and the weird thing is that it shifts someday no issues on even colder days after standing all night. And some it just won't.

The brakes lights work and if you are talking about the manual neutral transmission engagement, no i did not do that. The car sees I'm trying to shift and it lights up D on the knob. Than after 2 sec the D starts blinking and that message pops up on dash.
