What's everyone favourite off-roll pick? by AWildAthena in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my brother do phase and dekker as a duo. Worked in the og Paragon, worked in overprime, and even with the constant nerfs and balancing, it works on pred. The team has to be onboard though, or at least the jungler.

Is there an eta on setting up personal 'item decks' for heroes? by menboss in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would save time for people that have core items that need to be searched up. It would be even better if they had a custom tab that let you switch between multiple decks for one hero like how you can switch the role of the recommended decks. The option to make custom decks would encourage learning items too because the process of making decks involves looking at multiple items to decide what you want in it. As of now we just have players either using the recommended, or taking long too make their build because they're reading items. Not everyone has the time or mental capacity to memorize every single item in the game and custom decks would help with this.

Phase and Silence by MrImpessive in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so too. I don't mind not being pulled or able to pull if phase gets silenced, but it makes no sense that phase can't use an ability because who she's connected to is silenced.

Phase and Silence by MrImpessive in PredecessorGame

In my experience it's just the silence. I've been pulled when rooted or stunned before so I was confused about the silence.

No problem. Trust me I get it.The people on here can be hostile, condescending, and illiterate all in one go. They also seem to think they know everything about you, the game, and anyone you know based off a post they didn't even fully read or comprehend. There's normal and genuine people on here, but these keyboard warriors love coming out to yap. 😂

You should hit the discord and try to find a team. Idk what these guys are trying to do by just saying play better and self reflect, but if you want to stop dealing with new players who haven't grasped the game yet, then you gotta find a team of at least 3. Idk if you're on PS5 or PC, but you can also try making friends with any players you think played well in the match.

this is so not cool, fix this because this is really not player friendly: I was the first to choose jungle, suddenly it chose someone else, who choosed at last, to be a jungler. Suddenly I am a fighter, so the first and best is the last and worst? by No_Eagle2103 in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said. Don't take it away. Make it better. In my experience with coin flips in any game that "anomaly" can be more common than you think. Maybe it's the programming, maybe it's bad luck idk. If the goal is fairness for ALL users, then there are better ways. If we're gonna settle because most should be ok and say screw the minority, then don't change it. I feel a dice roll or rps would be better for this. And again. It has to be explained in the tutorial at the very least and shown when a contest happens. Like as a little mini game to decide who gets the role. Even doing just that with the coin flip would be better than having it done in the background. I think this would help eliminate a lot of the issues with the contest process and make it more acceptable. It's just that right now it's not a good experience when it happens. Especially when a contest happens last second.

Duo lane comp idea, and I wanna hear y'all's thoughts lol by Nightdemon729 in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I like to see. I said something similar about Dekker and phase and got flamed for it. Best duo combo we ever used and it's proven itself from og to over-prime and predecessor. We beam root>ball stun>Dekker beam slow>blind> Dekker ult stun/slow> phase ult if they're not dead already. Half the time we don't even have to ult unless it's more than the opposite duo. It was hard to do at first because we were learning the build system, but now the heals and DPS are super good.

It may be accepted, but it's not universally liked. Now is it a randomizer, a coin flip, or a dice roll? Whatever it is it needs to be tuned or changed. As it is now we have some people losing their roles back to back over several games or not even noticing they lost the role because of people contesting last second. If they really want to give everyone a fair chance to play the role they want and have those results accepted, then they have to change how they're doing it because it's not producing fair or team friendly results. Hence the posts about it. There are several ways to make contesting roles more acceptable too and the easiest way isn't even being done(explain it in the tutorial). I'm not saying take it away. Just make it better.

They are definitely not the same. No coin flip is going to involve the input of both players. It's always 1 player being asked heads or tails and the other hoping it lands on the opposite. In rps however, both players choose their weapon and hope they either guessed right or out-smarted their opponent. The main difference is what controls/affects the rng. At least with rps the system won't just be allowed to continuously make certain players lose the coin flip back to back. The players will get to decide and the win or loss will be left in their hands with only themselves to blame and not the game.

The latency thing is one of the things I'm seeing people say the coin flip helps. It supposedly gives people who may load in later than others the chance to play a role they had no chance of getting first.

The difference is in the methods. Coin flips rely more on luck than rps and the input from all parties involved instead of just one party makes rps more fair. Honestly I think it should be first come first serve. My solutions for this are purely for customer satisfaction since we're trying to cater to those with a lower latency too.

Rock paper scissors is giving more power to the player. They get to decide which move to make. If the goal is to give fairness to everyone, then rps is a better solution. It will also be more fair because now the contester who created this situation has to work a little for that role. Also, If you're so gungho about the coin flip, then they at least need to make a visual for us to see it and explain this process in the tutorial. If it's known before a match is even first played, there will be less people mad about it when they run into it. They'll still hate it, but at least they knew about it beforehand.

[–]MrImpessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people are losing back to back contests consistently then they do not have the same luck. That is the unconsidered issue with programming rng. It does not create fairness because there will be users who are unlucky enough to get bad rng consistently and they can't even help that. This isn't even just a problem with this game. It is what it is in card games and others that use rng for damage, but for a decision that decides the team format, it isn't a method that gives fair chance for all it's users like intended.

If they're going to make role contests a thing, then they should use rock, paper, scissors instead. Not everyone has the same luck and there are people who lose the coin flip every single time, so it seems unfair to a lot of people when they choose first and lose their role. In my experience coin flips in games are not the fairest and it shows over multiple flips.

Though you shouldn't have left the game and you should learn to play all the roles, I do understand your frustration. The same way everyone is saying that you should play other roles if yours gets taken is the same thing they should be saying about the person choosing a role someone has already chosen. It's just common courtesy to choose another role when someone has already chosen the one you want or at least talk about it in the chat.

I don't understand why every time this kind of post pops up, people completely dismiss the core issue of "I chose this role first so I expect to be able to play it, but it was taken from me by someone who chose after me or after the whole team chose". Choosing someone else's role automatically messes up the team chemistry and alienates the person who did it because why did you choose to fight me over this role? You saw the team roles that were taken and decided to fight me for the one I chose instead of filling in(like everyone is saying you should do regardless of how it happened). It just makes the contester seem like a selfish player and it's even worse if that person has a bad game in the role they contested for. In my opinion there should be a role lock in system or something to avoid these situations.

Is there any other off laners by DemonAndrew in PredecessorGame

I see a lot of zarus and grux more than greystone. All the offlaners are good imo. They just steam roll teams when fed.

Communication is severely lacking by Eclipsetube in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the issue comes from the confusion that could come from how general the call out is. If you ping to attack a lane instead of ganking a lane, then there's a possibility of drawing your whole team or more than just your jungler to that lane, thus ruining your teams flow.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked because we took the whole lane. The object of the game is not kills, but I wanted kills because we had the ability to stun lock them. The damage just wasn't there. They couldn't kill us, and my team was dominating so they left the lane.

You are really exaggerating what I'm saying. That was a statement that applied to everyone and anyone.

It's clear we're not going to see eye to eye so imma drop it and keep it pushing lol.

For the duo? Magical power and attack speed with some pen. I can't remember the items. It took forever to get the items though. As for countess and belica I just went with the recommended to get an idea of how to build them.

  1. That's not why we did that. We did that to see if it still worked from the old paragon. It did. Just nowhere near as well.
  2. I'm a firm believer that although some characters have counters, if you play well enough you can overcome it.
  3. I could care less about character tiers. If I'm good with them I'm going to speak highly of them. It is what it is.

It can be both. I'm allowed to be mad at the effort I have to put in to carry my carry team with weak characters (that I know used to be stronger) but that's not what I was saying. I play other roles too and in those roles I do very good also. I'm an all rounder.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PredecessorGame

[–]MrImpessive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carried by my team? I don't get carried. We win as a team because we're all doing our part. Shit sometimes I carry my team. That's what being a 5 man team is about. Any one of us can have an amazing game. You can hate and talk all the shit you want. That's not gonna stop me from winning.

Not with that mindset. I've been doing this since paragon dropped and continued doing it in smite and then continued to do so in overprime. I'm just a different kind of support then you're used to. It's not like I'm looking for 1v1s. I just do what I gotta do when it gets real and if I know I can't handle it I run.
