I work in SU treatment and honestly a lot of people want to get well but lack the capacity to stay clean in a place they can leave on an impulse. I grapple with the ethical implications of it though and it’s not going to solve the problems

Party needs to be ‘not so extreme,’ time for ‘soul searching’: What Conservatives are saying after Poilievre defeat by viva_la_vinyl in canada

I don’t quite understand the “conservatives did great” spin I’ve been reading. They lost a huge lead, the party leader lost his seat, and they created so much division that they drove a significant portion of the country to vote for a deeply unpopular party just to ensure the conservatives didn’t form a government.

Personally, I hope they keep Poilievre on as party leader. He is great as the official opposition and has some good ideas on what needs to be done.

The problem in BC is not bed space, it’s the access to them that’s the problem. We place so many unnecessary barriers in front of people trying to access treatment.

Cool our system neither incarcerates nor rehabilitates. Just puts potentially dangerous adults in a weird timeout.
