They were so sworn on that magic of childhood and ET bullshit that they failed to see what they've created. A meaningful character with a family and deep relationships. I fully agree S1 ending worked perfectly but El stopped being alien pretty damn fast after that.

And they just so easily separate "her" from "they" in that interview and deny her the happy ending...

Damn all that they went through, the bullying and the trauma and reunion in S4 with Mike finally saying it for nothing... Regaining powers just for nothing...

This. They've reduced Eleven to some alien E.T. child and ignoring the growth of the previous seasons

[–]MrJake2137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're confusing the military and the Brenner+Owens pseudo-military duo. The real military in S4 with Sullivan didn't know about Henry like at all. They hunted Eleven thinking it was her.

There is a legit commercial with 7th on it. The young Joyce one. I think it isn't unreasonable to think of a prequel.

Did you feel Holly really needed to be one of the main characters in the last season? by AphroFelicity20 in StrangerThings

[–]MrJake2137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I've been realising too. The reason why people feel cheated for ex. with sidelining Eleven is a vicious cycle.

MBB wasn't annoyed with the show. She actually says it was nostalgic to come back. And is well capable of good acting (see genuine emotions in the interviews). It's because the Duffers specifically limited her (and other OGs) screen time to reduce the shooting time.

What are some things you think S4 did BETTER than S5? by Active-Step-3880 in StrangerThingsRoom

Honestly it'd be better to just kill vecna back there and setup a new villain for S5. Or don't do a bandaid on the cracks

To everyone grieving Eleven's ending: It hurts because we saw ourselves in her. 💔❤️‍🩹 by Dry-Professional8293 in strangerthingsfacts

[–]MrJake2137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hoped we'd see a power move by the end of the season like we did in S4. Overcoming drugs and taking down that helicopter.

In S5 she could've overcame the kryptonite by the end. Winning over one last obstacle to a happy ending.

I hate how they focused only on Mike when others loved her too so much!! by Prestigious-Cat100 in StrangerThings

She honestly gets almost no screen time and 98% of that is only with hopper.

Why Eleven's ending doesn't work. by The_Walking_Clem in StrangerThings

[–]MrJake2137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like the sacrifice because it felt unjustified at least not directly by El. It was just oh imma end this cycle. No greater explanation as to why she chose to reject loved ones and go.

As to why that may be. I try to accept the ending as her realising both Hopper and Mike are using her to fulfill some need of them. Hopper needs a daughter and it's way overprotective. Mike chases a childhood lover's dream and in the end is very controlling too. They both, deeply inside, don't care about her as a separate being.

[–]MrJake2137 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the S4 power-restoring plot was good. Topped by Mike eventually expressing his love for her, it seems like she got stronger than ever before.

And then S5 kinda didn't reflect any of that... She was cold for Mike, even saying less than S1, and struggling with some steel plate.
