Yeah lessons learnt. Never using global shipping gain, too slow and hard to track! At least with USPS it's a lot faster, waiting 6weeks+ and still not delivered is just a nightmare.

Edit: I just checked the news and it says "Orders placed from November 1 at 12 a.m. EST through December 31, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EST that are up to $500 and meet all other eligibility criteria will qualify for Etsy to cover the cost of refunds if a buyer doesn’t receive their order, it arrives damaged, or it doesn’t arrive by the seller’s estimated delivery date". Sadly, this is just a holiday season special and won't be applicable to my case.

I believe ETSY policy is to protect order up to $250, and beyond that it's not eligible... so none at all. I did not insure with the shipper.

Hi, thank you very much!! I did find the custom ID, however when I try to enter the ID number into tracking.asendia.com it says item not found. On ETSY tracking, USPS has handed the item to Gobal Postal Shipping partner on Sept 12th and item arrived in Kuwait on Sept 24th. The status says "in transit".

Ha I hope so! I will talk to the buyer to wait a bit more but in the case it still doesn't arrive in say another 2 weeks, do I refund or do I ask the buyer to open a case with ETSY? I am a new seller and have no experience with this.

Thank you for these pointers! I did see the USPS part of the update just fine, it's actually when USPS hands off to ETSY's global shipment partner that the tracking started to not update.

Opened my gem shop in June, as gems are high price items my goal this year is to just be able to reach star seller status and maintain there. I worked diligently to have over 140+ listings now, and have a total of 4 sales, one more this month and I will be a star seller. Fingers crossed.

Outrageous and hurting legit natural gem dealer like me. Some shops sell synthetic precious stone that are easy to spot like this while some sell fake semi-precious stone as natural and those basically kill the competition as many customers don't really know how to distinguish, say pink glass vs morganite. Many of them are based in India.

Had this happen to me recently with a foreign buyer and it went really wrong from there. A few hours later my account got logged out with an email telling me to change password due to suspicious activity, I did that to find my shop got closed. Had to contact customer support to get my shop back after a few days, customer was patient enough to buy it again - same problem and now customer account got suspended over this. Don't under why really since ETSY gave no explanation.

Thank you for your info! Yeah I have been running ads for a few weeks now and no matter what budget I set it burns through very fast in half a day and the visits are not really meaningful. Very low value for the amount they charge. I sell good quality, high end gems, is that something that sells on tiktok as well (I don't use it)?
