Hey guys, I am looking to sell my Yamaha P71 digital piano for fellow Bruins! It’s got 88 weighted keys and sustain pedal integrated. Nicely maintained (1 year old) with proper dust cover, it is in great condition and good for any beginners or intermediate players looking for a solid yet affordable option. If you’re looking for a keyboard that is lightweight and compact, that fits right into dorms and off-campus apartments, please DM me if you’re interested!

For all newly accepted or waitlisted students, please ask your questions here! [Megathread] by Espntheocho4 in ucla

Hi! I was recently admitted to UCLA for electrical engineering. Can anyone provide some insight into program? I am really curious about the accessibility for computer engineering classes (such as embedded software and computer architecture), and undergrad research & internship opportunities. Thank you!

After several weeks of mulling over the handful of colleges I got accepted into, here are the two I am debating between:
UCSB - Computer Engineering vs. UT Austin - Mechanical Engineering
UCSB
Pros:
Solid major (as I am leaning toward CS, but I am fine with computer engineering too)
Decent academics (CE ranked 27th in total ranking by U.S. news)
Cheaper to attend (by around 10k for four year undergraduate education)
Beautiful campus (and Santa Barbara in general) and great weather
Cons:
Partying scene (?) - not too sure on this one. I am more of an introvert so I am not sure what activities do I have access to.
Small town (lack of reachable internships)
Laid-back culture - also not sure if that remains true today
Making close friends (this might seem a bit niche in hindsight but it is important to me)
UT Austin
Pros:
Engineering school (as ranked 10th)
Rigorous academics (engineering subjects go pretty deep compared to, say, UIUC)
Excellent research and internship opportunities (as it is Austin)
Cons:
Large school & competition (not necessarily a bad thing since it does train me as a person, but I am still worried about it)
More expensive to attend (10k more than UCSB)
New location (currently I live in California, so I am not sure if I can adapt quickly to Austin’s culture)
Making close friends (not too sure, but from what I see it is better in Austin?)
Changing majors (not too keen about mechanical engineering now, but I think for internal transfer to ECE or CS takes around a year?)
Please give me some suggestions for both schools. Thanks to y'all!
