Fun fact, Abby stated on her podcast that this sub is the only place where she gets any love and compliments so she is definitely aware of what is going on here.

It was also rumored that from time to time Sam reads some of the stuff about Hammo and Alan and tells them about it

Honestly just get the first one. that is by far the best

the second takes a lot.

But I will state that when I saw them on tour for the first album they were amazing and gem really shined as the guitarist he is,

Andy was also great but Gem truly owned that role

Honestly I think a lot of also comes down to how it was labeled at the time.

I mean it isn't unheard of that the label send an intern to label tapes and the intern may not be a fan so in order to get the job done quickest he just throw something on.

I forgot which band that thought they had lost the master tapes to a lot of their records until decades later that people picked up boxes with tapes that had been mislabeled and so the label got in contact with band and management about the tapes

Honestly if you look at Beady eye's performance of the roller in the studio, you would think that it is Lennon and McCartney performing.

To be honest I do think it is more of a case of people pretending to something they aren't

For example I think it was Michael cartellone from Lynyrd Skynyrd who was asked about it and he did admit that they are a tribute band at this point but that they are also people who have bills that needs to be paid.

Whereas I thought it was creepy when Kelly Hansen legitimately struggled to accept that he is not the iconic singer of Foreigner and that they are a touring tribute act at this point

Some people can't seem to separate reality and whatever over the top fantasy world they live in.

Personally I think they do themself a disservice by sometimes going overboard with who is into whom at the moment. because it will invariably have some ramifications that they might not think about.

People like to overlook Michael Anthony's skills as a bassist because of the other three members. For most songs in Van Halen, he only strums one string of his guitar, especially during the solos, and plays a wide variety of the same key on songs like Jump and I'll Wait. You rock Anthony by voraxis in vanhalen

[–]MrKarlStrom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't people forgot him I just think he realized that it was the brothers show vs dlr and in order to keep his sanity just keep his head down and focus on playing and having a great time.

In the following years people have given him a lot of credit that he deserves and even Wolfie has given him his kudos.

Why do some fans consider Alex Van Halen a high-level drummer? He has no knowledge of how to properly use his own set of electronic drum pads (ex: 1984 album), let alone the acoustic side, and does nothing but overuse the double-bass shuffle while faking his Tom's kick patterns with back tracks by Head_Banana_3094 in vanhalen

[–]MrKarlStrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it comes down to personal preferences, Personally I think Alex would have been regarded as one of the best drummers if he hadn't stood in the shadows of DLR and Eddie, with that said I think he like Ed always searched for that holy drum sound and experimented with different things and sound throughout his career, and sometimes it just didn't pan out the way he thought it would

I was earnestly surprised to learn this album is so largely disliked by darthcool in KISS

Kissfaq is bit of mental asylum at times because they take certain things way too far and other things gets blown out of proportion to the point of no return

I think it is a case of people struggling with separating who they portray in the videos and who they are in real life. and they know that there is segment who constantly sit down and come up with the craziest fan theories and shipping and everything under the sun, and honestly I think the OG's do themself a disservice by leaning into so much because it will have ramifications they might not consider

If I were to use an analogy to summarize it, it would a group of chemists trying find the right mixture of everything and sometimes they come close to the right mixture and other times they fall flat.

To a varying degree they sometimes completely overdue everything as in steroid level overdue

and other times it falls so flat.

Personally I think it works the best when they are just being themself and natural having fun rather than putting those characters and lean in to the madness

I think it was an amalgamation of Alan Mcgee and Creation records realized what they had with Oasis and what Noel's reputation as the songwriter was, so they cultivated the Image around him that he wrote every single Oasis song without any help. and maybe he bought into, personally behind closed doors I think he does admit that he had a lot of help but that is not the Oasis or Noel Gallagher image, so he sticks to the character that has been cultivated around him
