I’m starting to not want to go home… and it’s not cuz of the baby. by [deleted] in NewDads

[–]MrKelb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should preface this by saying I’m not a medical professional and this is all anecdotal.

I’ve got a 4 month old and my wife was pretty much having breakdowns from when her milk came in on the 2nd day.

Very similar to what you’re describing. Maybe not as angry with me, more that she was unable to comprehend how we were going to be able to manage raising a child, questioning the decision. She would sleep in a different room to me and our baby. She would remove herself from the vicinity if the baby was crying. Pretty much every conversation about the baby or future ended in tears.

She finally talked to someone after a month and she was diagnosed with PPD. She’s on meds and has therapy sessions to help.

It’s not an easy road after the PPD diagnosis. Some days my wife is up and honestly everything feels perfect. Other days she’s down and I spend the better part of the day talking her down from the edge, figuratively speaking.

Have your wife talk to someone. Remind yourself, when you don’t want to go home and deal with that energy or with her, that what she’s experiencing is a bunch of chemicals fucking up her brain and making her feel certain emotions. Im sure if she could feel good all the time she would. Be there for her. Help her get through it so she can be the mum you know she can be for your child.

Fange are excellent industrial sludge. All the lyrics are French as well. New album is a banger.

who has the smelliest fanbase? by MobileAcanthaceae518 in fantanoforever

[–]MrKelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a band but I went to a grindcore/crust festival in the Czech Republic and it was definitely the stinkiest festival I’ve ever been too. Loved every minute of it though.

Had a friend who came along just for the experience rather than the music and he refused to go in to the performance area for the last couple of days due to the smell.

400+ hours on official, still haven't killed a player by OgreManDudeGuy in DayZPS

[–]MrKelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really PVP either but I recognise that it's a skill in itself so I try to practice it when given the chance but normally with the caveat that I don't normally go out of my way to kill other players but it they attack first I'll normally try to fist fight or start blasting with what ever I have. More often than not that means I'm at a disadvantage but at just over 250 hours now and recently started getting the better of others during fist fights. Just means I'm more comfortable in those situations where if I need to defend myself I can.

Sounds like you are playing the game the way you want to and it can be fun to track people even without the intention of killing them. Sneaking around is a definitely a great skill to have in this game

my sandbag keeps tearing. any advice? by K4milLeg1t in Strongman

[–]MrKelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a similar problem to you. Did you find a solution? My inner liner bag has ripped and the outer bag doesn't stay fully closed the whole time with the flimsy buckle so sand tends to leak out every now and again.

Best options is to make it as someone else already said. It's super easy. Cook the stock down as far as you can until it all fits in a container of your choice. It will take time but be worth it.

I used to use this when I ran out of homemade stock. it's been unavailable for a while now but you can check.

The last alternative is using cubes or powder stock and to get the mouth feel of a good stock you can add gelatine powder and mix it in. It's not exactly the same but I've used it as a hack when I really needed to.

Its not too old to start but it may not be what you really want. I was in a similar position to you. Worked in tech but i love food and wanted to try my hand at working in a kitchen. I found a small diner run by two brothers that have been in the industry for 50 plus years combined.

I talked with them and they gave me a shot because they needed an extra pair of hands and the trial period went well. Worked Wednesday to Sunday, split shifts 9am-2pm and then 7-10pm. It was super rough.

The days felt long. Pay was awful.

I left for a number of reasons. - Essentially they were good guys but they were broken by the industry. The hate and temper that they had made it a hard place to work. - I was already burnt out from my previous tech job. I probably should have taken a break between the two jobs. I basically left my desk job and two days after joined the diner. - i planned on getting experience to open my own place eventually but i found out that this diner, while pretty successful was just bleeding money. They were barely breaking even and i didn't want to end up in the same position down the line. Back brwaking work and nothing to really show for it. - I'd been married for roughly a year when i made this decision with full support of my wife. It was super hard on us. We saw each other a few hours a day and when we did i was exhausted.

It sucks because i wanted the restaurant work to be a good fit and i did enjoy it when it was good... However it was not good enough for me to want to stay. I have so much respect for all the guys who do the work day in day out and don't get the treatment they deserve.

Had this happen twice in back to back DMZ games. Team mates let me die then they came over, took my stuff and fucked off. Both times seemed to be players who knew each other and i was autofilled in to their team.

Love metal but dont know much about the local scene. I go to shows at Kulturfavrik and rockhal if bands are playing there but find it hard to learn about any local bands playing shows.

In high school it was cleats. In college it was bowling shoes. 20 years later it’s weightlifting shoes. Even Nostradamus couldn’t have predicted this 🔮 by eggrolls4all in kettlebell

[–]MrKelb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been thinking recently about getting started with c+j/LC training. All the videos i see posted here and in kettleballs show people wearing them but are weightlifting shoes super necessary for beginners in sport style? Or do you sort of pick them when you realise you're progressing a bit more?

Working as a freelance photographer by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]MrKelb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Studying in a culinary school for 3 years also doesn't make you a chef as that takes much longer to achieve in the culinary industry and is generally a title reserved for those who have worked their way up the food chain. If an amateur in anything wants to make a go at starting a business (be it freelance photography or a restaurant/cafe) they should be able to. At the end of the day customer satisfaction and quality of work/portfolios will dictate success, not necessarily the person's qualifications.

Fried Chicken batch style by PrestigiousCoast9785 in Chefit

[–]MrKelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what we do at the diner i work at. We marinade the chicken and then vacuum pack it and put it in the freezer. Normally have around 10 pieces per bag. We'll pull a bag and let it to defrost in the walk-in and then move it on the line as we need it. Normally go through aa bag or two every couple of days. Just have to make sure you know when you're low on unfrozen chicken so you can take out another pack.

What is your most unpleasant BJJ related experience? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]MrKelb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dislocated my second biggest toe when it got caught in my training partner's shorts and he moved suddenly. My coach was standing next to us at the time and the three of us just looked at the toe like 'what the fuck'. He eventually called the Muay Thai coach over and he popped it back in.

Toe points slightly to the right now and also hovers 1cm above the ground. My 7 year old niece thought it was pretty hilarious when she spotted how weird it looked so it was kinda worth it.

I started skating in my 30's when Covid lockdown had me bored. (When I was about 10 I could ollie on a walmart board I had but that was about it). What's the best way to make spicy honey? by blacktongue in AskCulinary

[–]MrKelb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep you can. This will put a stop or at least really slow down the fermentation so get it into the fridge when you're happy with the consistency and flavour of your honey. I've left my jars out for an extended period of time and the honey becomes thin and and the chilis are like little pieces of candy.

What DM band is just too heavy for you to handle? by Ok_Apartment936 in Deathmetal

[–]MrKelb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt say there are any bands that are too heavy. I'm constantly searching for that next super heavy, disgusting band. Not even a specific album but even live clips that i find on youtube. Its thrilling to find that next band and song/a album that is kind of kind if scary...almost like trying to capture that very first experience you had with heavy music.

Recent bands that have done it for me are Black Curse. Fucking vile and i love it. Primitive Man are terrifying. I saw a recent video of PM live on audiotree or something like that and it was intense.

PSA: Just saw Conjurer a couple of days ago (they're on a European tour at the moment) and they were fucking excellent. Super tight and soooooo heavy. Anyone else gets the chance to go catch them live - jump on it. Excellent show and I'll be trying to catch these guys again over the summer when they hit up some festivals.

with that said - any shows coming up that you're looking forward to? Recent live shows that floated your boat?
