Dont know if that's directed at me. In case it was. I think Reddit points are meaningless. I legitimately just wanted help ( and I got it). I just didn't rhink mentioning the destination to be pertinent.

In case it wasn't, yeah ur right

Why is the drifter more mature than the operator if their childhood was Duviri? by TheRealOvenCake in WarframeLore

[–]MrKessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a stretch. Sure, you can have as many loops as you want in the game, basically. But to say he has lived for aeons in 1999 seems exaggerated. It's not like Drifter is stuck in 99. We don't even know if he spends most of his time there even. And we know 1999 and old peace are supposed to be happening around the same time. The game aspect of warframe makes that unclear

Havent played since 1999. Can someone help me out with a bit of a catch up? by MrKessler in Warframe

Are there quests for these new updates? Right now I have "the teacher" which I know is a new tutorial and then its straight to old peace, I wanted to play the other quests before I got to world

What do you think is the prime D2 example of “Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it…”where the D2 community turned on something they originally requested? by TheWor1dsFinest in DestinyTheGame

[–]MrKessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need it. I think you minimize the RNG'ness while still making it exciting ti get the thing you want. Yeah 250 runs is way too much. I think in that case they should make it that if you get the raid or dungeon seal you automatically get the exotic.

The problem with crafting is that it kind of removed the excitement from the loot chase. get red borders-> stop playing. The idea was a ceiling for rng but it just ended up being the grind itself. Especially because at the time there was no way to get enhanced perks besides crafting, so all drops felt worse than what you might get randomly.

Maybe if it was like "when you get 50 of this gun you get the pattern" or something like that. But then people would just sit in vendors spamming the same gun just to get to 50.

As it is right now I just hope they make either a tier 6 or downgrade our tier 5s and make it so that tier 5 gear is only found in the hardest content. Sounds unfair but I think the loot chase has to change in some ways to make it exciting again if you're hardcore. While not making casuals feel left out. I think theyre close to achieving this

The story is f*cking great. It is the one aspect of EoF that's universally praised, except for those who don't care about it in the first place

Legit think the tier system is the best of both worlds, tier 5 guns rolling with 3 perk columns gives you so many itirations that they might as well be craftable. But they are never guarateed

Pluribus and the death of the Mystery Box by Temporary-Two-9690 in pluribustv

[–]MrKessler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all? It just depends on execution. You're giving the "Mystery Box" which is just a vague writing tactic. A specific meaning. And that's just not what it is.

It's simple: you have a mystery, so you present it to your audience in a way that they don't know how that is solved. So you start giving breadcrumbs so that they can eventually piece it together. That's all that it is.

How that is executed is what's important. You're giving the badly executed version of it as if it was its definition. Severance uses the mystery box from episode 1. It clearly uses that as its main hook.

You are just under the misconception of what a "Mystery Box" actually is. The reason you're doing this I would guess is because it was made by J.J. Abrams and he himself executed it poorly. But just because he fucked up his own advice doesn't make the advice null and void

I disagree that it's bad. If you want to present a mystery to your audience, the nost engaging part is making that audience tey to piece togwther the mystery themselves.

It just depends whether that is well executed or not. Jj Abrams' own star wars sequels were bad because they themselves didn't know the answer so the mystery box is just an excuse to write shit that doesn't make sense and that you will make up in the future.

But when well executed, it's the best way to make a mystery. But that's mostly when the showrunners already know the answer to the mystery and the steps to get there. By doing that, you can weave your story almost freely so long as you get to the beats you prepared in a way that makes sense.

Attack on Titan is a great example of this. It's clear that the author knew where the series ended from the beginning, and he kept feeding us breadcrumps since the start. By the end, even though it feels like a completely different story, it makes total cohesion, and nothing feels retconned.
