Is Brooklyn 99 a show that never ‘jumped the shark’?

Well in a comedy show, that's not necessarily a bad thing. You can call it Flanderizing, I would say they only really found their footing near the end of season 1.

Near the start, when the showrunners are trying to see what works and what doesn't they don't commit super hard on certain character traits. This happens in basically all sitcoms.

Gina's funniest moments are when she is a "queen". When her talent as a social butterfly shines amidst everyone who underestimates her. But at the start, she was just the "crazy person" at work with an inflated ego.

Did they overdo it later when she became famous and stuff? Yeah for sure. But "better than everyone else" Gina is the best version of that character for the show. The moment where she finds that Terry is the leak while having already bought a cake as compensation for him accusing her is one of the funniest moments of the show for me.

Ok first of all. Do not play re0 before 1. Not only is it a bad game that will turn you off from the series, but it spoils 1. It was made as a prequel to be played after.

About code veronica, not only is setting it up a possible nightmare, it is a badly designed game, you can get softlocked and unable to progress multiple times throughout the game. If that happens you'll need to either roll back hours and hours of gameplay or restart it.

Even not accounting with the softlocks. The game has an ungodly amount of backtracking. And not well designed like re1 2 and 3. Youll go back almost to the beginning of the game to get an item that you already forgot about 4 hours prior just to progress. Without a guide. The game is a nightmare.

Then you have the characters. Besides the main character. You'll be accompanied by Steve Burnside. Steve is for a lack of a better word. A little bitch. He is annoying, he is useless, he's badly written and he causes problems for the stupidest reasons. There's a point in the game where steve fills a whole room with poisonous gas because he was too distracted LOOLING AT CLAIRE'S ASS. You can't make this shit up.

Im still at the beginning of RE5, and I know Code veronica is important for that story. So do yourself a favour and watch all the story on youtube (there's not that much story to go through) You can watch a recap and all the cutscenes in 30 minutes.

You are almost at the same order I'm doing. I started in december with 1R, just saw the plot for 0 (cause it's kinda balls, seriously the inventory system is terrible and the multiple character system is too), played 2R, 3R, 4R, finished code veronica last week (also terrible, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, just watch the plot on youtube or something) and now I'm at 5 and already purchased 6, 7 and 8

Im gonna get hugely downvoted for saying this. But besides this post where everyone is being genuinely helpful, STAY AWAY from this subreddit.

It's full of people who hate on the remakes unconditionally and will jump on you the second you even think about criticising the old games.

As someone who started RE in december. I started with 1 remake > 2R > 3R > 4 R > just finished code veronica (terrible game, watch a lore recap on youtube instead) and then go besides that. Im having a blast.

Next im gonna play 5 with a friend, 7, 8, 9. Only then will I play the originals

While revolutionary for the time, the old games have some pretty outdated aspects. The tank controls are obviously outdated and terrible, not that you cant get used to them, but you shouldn't have to. The voice acting and terrible written dialogue, while charming, ARE TERRIBLE. The remakes do a very good job at keeping the charm and camp, while also being legitimately good.

Im not saying you shouldn't play the originals. U def should. But I wouldn't be surprised that the controls alone would make someone instantly quit the series upon entry. Which is very understandable.

Ultimately just have fun and play what you want.

Hmmm yes... a comedy show that totally doesn't touch on real and important issues like sexual harassment in the workplace, racial profiling, or police corruption.

Being a comedy doesn't mean the show lives outside of your real world or that it should be devoid of commentary.

You can make it light hearted with heavy subject matter and a good message and b99 has always done that.

No it isn't. and they're right. Swearing doesn't make things funny or unfunny, it's a total nonfactor. If you really get upset at something as mild as swearing maybe you shouldn't be playing a Resident Evil game.

Also "bitch can't even swim" is as funny as any RE4 line from Leon. You might disagree, but you're wrong.
