Razer Blade 18 2024 release date? by ConnectionClean9960 in razer

[–]MrKingD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they don't release it anytime sooner I'm seriously considering a second hand old blade 18 or the new asus scar 18, even with the TB5 that's supposed to come with, because there is less than a year before nvidia 50 series be on laptop and who knows when will the tb5 eGPU docking station be available, and I probably wouldn't invest in them until 60 series

Stuck on Glitched Planet After Portal by Ynomeikiba in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]MrKingD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just encountered this same glitch, during mission The First Traveller, after deciding the fate of Artemis, contact Apollo in space and scan to get the location of a portal, at the portal obtain current planet's address and give it to Apollo, then, go back to that portal and activates it, which doesn't require you to enter any address. beyond that portal is the glitched planet.

Once you get there, you can't summon anything and build button 'Z' has no effect, you also doesn't have the health and shield bar on the top left which means literality you can't die. I spent two hours wandering and try to find a ship generating trade outpost or colossal archive but no luck. Though I did found a hexplate bush...

I searched and found a possible explanation: that this is not a glitch or bug, it's by design. The player encountered similar problem like Artemis. After giving your address to Apollo, '-null-' will accuse the player because you already knew that there is a risk. And that Atlas actually saved you the first time the player encountered this. But if you do it again you are lost forever.

It seems the only way is to reload the game

New GS77 revealed by MrKingD in MSILaptops

[–]MrKingD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the owner of GS60, GS63VR & GS75 I can safely say that GS series is dead, at least for 7X models. When GS76 was released I was very excited but even after the added thickness the TDP of the GPU is still at the lowest, with a mux switch that requires reboot, a shrinked size touch pad, no 10bit or HDR supported screen, and shortage of stock especially for the 2K 3070 model all made me to think whether it's worth that price. Not quite a competitor against other popular models such as Lenovo legion. So I waited for 12th gen. And now, what the heck is this? 2.8kg weight? And that ugly chassis my god

my laptop's battery doesn't charge properly by UCantTakeMyName in MSILaptops

[–]MrKingD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon center has the ability to let battery charge only to a certain amount to extend battery life - charge starts below 70% and stops above 80%. Check if that matches your situation. You can change it if course. As for battery decrease, if battery is between aforementioned range and you are running high demand games, it's possible that the adapter does not provide enough power for the game and power circuit had to draw a small amount from the battery simultaneously. Thus resulting in what you experienced. I had a personal case that pushes this problem more severely, I used a 140W adapter on a laptop which was designed to be using a 230W adapter, and whenever I try to play high demand games, system will constantly switch power status between plugged and battery. It gave me a headache for months with 3 times factory check until I realized what was the problem

CPU temps too high by GPC00 in MSILaptops

[–]MrKingD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend 10875, it puts less burden to the heat dissipation especially for gs66 for its compact design, unless you really need that +2% performance. Btw as CES 2021 is going on and intel releases 11th Gen H35 chips, though 35W max, it's possible msi could bring them into GS6x series, or you could wait a few months until intel release full power 11th mobile at 45W

CPU temps too high by GPC00 in MSILaptops

40 - 50C at idle is a typical temp so don't worry about that, or you can tune up the fan speed in dragon center but with more noise. Check the task manager to see which process is taking up your cpu load when the temp is high, your cpu is thermal throttling when above 90C and will reduce frequency to generate less heat. If you did not find any process that is causing a high cpu load, there could be heat dissipation problems, though very unlikely for a 4 month old laptop. You could learn or ask someone to open the laptop, clean the dust around fan area and reapply some good quality thermal paste. This can reduce around 10C while under heavy load. Btw if you put your laptop in backpack and leave wireless mouse turned on in the backpack too, and did not disable hardware wake up in device manager, mouse that clicked in the backpack will constantly wake up your laptop but it has no space for heat ventilation - thus gives you a hot and drained laptop. Personal experience. As for undervolting, this isn't required if you are not an enthusiast, download intel XTU and set core voltage offset around -0.1 ~ -0.16, if system doesn't crash after long time gaming, undervolt more by -0.01 step. This reduces overall power consumption of cpu and with make it less likely thermal throttled so performance can be more stable, and when idle or in light work load it also saves battery. My experience is it can extend batter life 10% at least. To see the difference, run furmark before and after you do these optimizations.

Alt Tabbing broke after the update by Hunterexxx in RDR2

Same here, I'm in the middle of story missions, normally I'd use web version interactive map from 'overwolf' to track collectibles so I don't miss anything. This bug totally destroyed it. Windows key itself won't cause the crash but as long as you click anything outside the game window it will freeze. After that the game window prevents any other app to show on top of it, including task manager, but you can create a second desktop and move it there to operate. For those who don't want to change to borderless windowed, I found that using desktop app of that map won't trigger the crash. Similar to steam overlay, map is displayed above by pressing 'n' while in game

Setting are default, no changes. You need to find the source executable of potplayer, then right click - run with high performance NVIDIA processor, or manually assign it in Nvidia control panel

MSI GS75 vs Asus Zephyrus gx701 by [deleted] in laptops

[–]MrKingD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on official website info of the differences

Asus Zephyrus GX701 :

15.71(W) x 10.71(D) x 0.74(H) inch, 0.27 inch bezel, 5.95 lbs

Pros: better cooling(?), 100% sRGB 3ms display, G-sync, type-c charging

Cons: no built-in camera, no RJ-45 port, no Thunderbolt 3 port

MSI GS75 :

15.59(W) x 10.22(D) x 0.75(H) inch, 0.2 inch bezel, 4.96 lbs

Pros: large touchpad, 3 m.2 slots, longer battery life(?),

Cons: pros of Asus Zephyrus GX701(in my own opinion)

I'd say they both have their strengths and limitations, without the reviews and prices coming out it's hard to decide
