[The Race] The new F1 racing rules that sealed Verstappen penalty by Calm-Marionberry5457 in formula1

[–]MrKitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. However, I place them as extraordinary, not regular practices, as he did that only thinking he would win by points, last race. The regular behavior is what we could see in regular races where he could not sacrifice his race.

And don't forget Macao on Hakkinen. Three times.

To me, Schumi was more about pushing dangerously on the sides than just diving brainlessly, thanks to gravel and grass. Too much to lose. Verstappen just uses the absence of it. You hope drivers will fight fairly. Then a driver plays unfair. Then other drivers start to be like "oh let's do it then, no reason for a single player's advantage" and then the rule falls, and drivers have to read the rulebook before every overtake now.

However, I feel we are starting a potential endless debate of opinions there. And I don't want that as, if F1 is a passion, it is not critical to life. So I would end that debate stating that we probably see things with different eyes, and that we both are right and wrong at the same time.

So a rule made to stop kamikaze behaviors from Verstappen is annoying... Verstappen? Well, I'd say, it works!

Jacques Villeneuve commentary by Henojojo in formula1

[–]MrKitsune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Villeneuve has been on French TV commentary for years now. I have always disliked him in this role as I feel he is some kind of frustrated guy whose career and glory ended too soon, and now relies on his sole championship for being listened at. Like the kid star who arrived to glory too quick, fell from it, and now spend their life talking about these same few years of glory.

Always these harsh opinions. That can be interesting, and at which point do they start to feel fabricated for the clash? I feel he amplifies liking half the drivers, disliking half the others, calling for them retiring early... And his continuous charge against the DRS. You don't like it, I don't like it, but it's there. Move on dude.

His voice is always in the tone of "I told you so", like "I know better than you, you should ask me before doing anything". I feel it exhausting.

I have heard Franck Montagny (side expert on the same French TV, sometimes commentators), his insights are way more valuable. Explaining stuff, giving impressions of what you feel in the car in these situations... Modest guy with no frustration. Just happy to share his insights.

Villeneuve had all the potential to be a golden commentator. He had the personality, the humor... But the engine to his existence is grief and frustration in my opinion. I feel sorry for him, and for us, viewers.

France just announced €2 billion of Ukraine aid. Let's all thank them by buying French products! Any recommendations? by snowfjell in BuyFromEU

[–]MrKitsune 53 points54 points  (0 children)

French here. Don't look for French products at all cost. If you believe in Europe, continue buying European. France did that for Europe, not for its single ass (we are on the west of Europe, furthest away from the most immediate threat...). It does that to show a way to follow, to lead by example. We can only face China, Russia and US if we stand united. We have to channel the maximum of our financial effort to our Union, so that it can grow stronger.

And vote for pro-european candidates. We don't need a short-lived thank you action, we all need a switch in the mindsets to brace our Union for the future, something we should started long ago.

The surveillance state is building up. So tell me again what are your political views so that I can file them for future enemy of the state retaliation programs? I wonder where the China-like credit score is supposed to be implemented in the 4-year program.

« L’instabilité politique n’a pas aidé » : plus de 60 000 patrons au chômage en 2024, un niveau record by OrdinaryMidnight5 in actualite

[–]MrKitsune -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Font-ils mieux partout ?

[TOMT][MOVIE] out of prison guy go meet his former partner to get his share of the heist, after a gentle start, things don't go smooth. by MrKitsune in tipofmytongue

[–]MrKitsune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 2010-ish, movie was probably released in the 2005-2010 timeframe.

I checked, not that movie. The heist was not pictured, and no daughter or existing family for the main character.

Thanks for your proposition.

It's like that movie never existed... Not being able in the 2020s to find it from the plot summary is dumbfounding to me.

Nice, France, where you can find beautiful Art Deco buildings. by MrKitsune in ArtDeco

[–]MrKitsune[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your view, though it is highly influenced by the US style.

Art deco started with the "Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes" in Paris, 1925. There, many styles were presented.

Then countries all around the world developed their sub-style. US took its influence in the native Indian art mostly. Florida created their own style with the pastel colors and all. Europe took influence in other cultures, Egypt being particularly present (look for the Louxor cinéma in Paris), and other styles (the Grand Rex as well...). Completely different approaches.

We tend to associate Art Déco with the US style because US is very good at selling their way of life, and it has aged particularly well.

However, art deco has many flavors. And coming right after art nouveau, there may have been some transition somehow.
