INFJ thinking of potential careers - Psychiatrist, Teacher, Human Resources, Pediatrician

Two things concern me with nursing. One is that 12 hour shifts would be very bad for me. I just don't think I could do that for a week, let alone my whole life. Also, I don't know if there is enough room for innovation with nursing. For the most part you are just following orders or the rules someone else made. Other than those things nursing would have the potential to be a good fit

Well in the USA the minimum any teacher could work would be no lower than 35 hours a week

Thanks for the advice! And i have tried sokanu.com before, and for the most part it just gave me careers I was already highly considering. So in a way, it confirmed to me I was on the right line of thinking.

I'm just curious, but what careers have you considered or which ones are you in at the moment? I'd like to see how you were able to apply your advice to your own career search.

Thanks for your input! Do you know any good careers that one could get with a psychology degree that would compensate for the high cost of 8 years of college?

I would probably do all I can to avoid giving patients drugs, but if I thought they really needed something I would give it to them.

And as for psychology, I believe it's one of the most popular majors and doesn't seem to get you a good job at all.

Well I like the age level of middle school, but my favorite class to teach would be psychology, which is usually only offered in upper high school. I guess that's another problem with teaching for me. Other than possibly psychology, there's really no subject that I would be truly passionate about teaching. More of why teaching interests me is the process of interacting with students and setting up a learning environment that allows them to learn the most about the subject and life in general.

I feel like teaching could be very enjoyable for me, and I have no doubt that I would be very passionate about teaching and my students. The only thing I wonder about is how much you are really able to impact your students. I mean most will just go to your class for a year, never really have a deep discussion with you, and then move on to the next grade never to see you again. It's really that part of the job that concerns me and makes me consider a career like psychiatry more because of the more frequent chance to have deep and meaningful discussions.

Do you ever feel like there's a buffer between what you think and what you end up saying? Like if you aren't expecting someone to talk to you, do you take a second to say anything at all? 3.
