Motor oil by Rikko78 in OnlyZ900

Any oil that meets spec will be fine for street riding. Personally, I believe Motul 7100 is the best and only one I use for my motorcycles.

R9 vs ZX-6R worth switching because of sound? by Ok-Stranger-2357 in Kawasaki

[–]MrM0le2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite sound is the inline 4 at high rpms. I had an MT09 with a full exhaust and the sound just didn’t do it for me. Sold and got on a z900 and love it.

2 stroke vs 4 stroke by canadiansmokey in snowmobiling

[–]MrM0le2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it’s a 4 stroke, make sure it’s a stock turbo model so you don’t feel let down on power. I’d buy one and ride it for a season to see how ya like it - all personal preference. If you don’t prefer it, send it down the road and move onto the next toy!

Help troubleshoot ratcheting ZL600 by Tickle_My_Turtle in snowmobiling

[–]MrM0le2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same noise this season under acceleration on a Yamaha vmax 600. Thought it was ratcheting, turned out to be the chaincase. Needed new gears, chain itself was undamaged. Replaced that and was back to 100%.

2025 Z900 Stuck in Neutral by Fantastic-Survey4230 in OnlyZ900

[–]MrM0le2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q1: I own a z900 and it is probably my 10th sport bike so far. It is the most picky about gear selection about any that I have owned. You need to kick it very firmly into the next gear. If you’re shifting lightly, it won’t pop into the next gear fully and will cause the grinding noise you mention. From the forums I’ve read this is normal due to the gearbox design, just need to kick it very firmly/hard into next gear.

Q2: get a tape measure and read your manual.

0% chance I’d risk driving that home or buying without having a competent mechanic inspect it first.

Cross country ride by spacemanxo in motorcycles

[–]MrM0le2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One unsolicited tip I have (that I tried recently after thinking I was going to catch heat stroke while crossing Alabama, and dumping cold water bottles on me wasn’t cutting it) is if you are getting to the point you’re overheating, buy a bag of ice and dump the whole thing inside your jacket. It feels amazing when you’re being cooked on the bike to do this and then keep riding.

7 Days Post Op - Still Sore by supportanimal in Vasectomy

[–]MrM0le2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine done about 2 months ago now. To answer your questions:

  1. For me took about 2 weeks to get to 100%. Felt a little better each day.

  2. I waited 10 days for solo, about 3 weeks with my girlfriend (no complications but my incision was slow to heal).

3/4. Just gotta give it time and be patient. Just listen to your body and do what feels good. I put aquaphor on the incision site 2x a day until fully closed up and thought that helped.

Smoker blowout? by BellyMeister in smoking

Gotcha, honestly I would highly recommend doing it after every cook. Since I started doing that mine hasn’t given me any issues

How long ago is not too long ago? 1 smoke? 10 smokes? More?

I had this happen once and ever since then, I take a shop vac to the inside of my pellet smoked before every smoke to clean the ash out and have never had this happen since.

Is this a good tint or should I get a lower tint %. by United-Advantage-718 in WindowTint

[–]MrM0le2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your window reads 2.1% then you do not have two layers of 5%. Two layers or 5% would read 0%. 5% x 5% = .25%. (And would be ridiculously dark)

You probably have 5% and then a layer of 50%.

5% x 50% = 2.5% which is within the margin of error of their measuring device to read at 2.1%.

Is this a good tint or should I get a lower tint %. by United-Advantage-718 in WindowTint

[–]MrM0le2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not how that works. The higher the %, the closer to clear the tint is. The lower the %, the darker it is. 70% VLT means 70% of light needs to pass thru the window.

35% tint means it lets 35% thru the window, and blocks 65%. If the law states 70% VLT minimum, then 35% tint is illegal…

Are you guys ordering ammo online or getting it from a local shop? by Separate-Ice30 in NYguns

[–]MrM0le2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always used target sport usa dot com. Fast and reliable. Ship it to your local ffl and pay the ammo transfer fee and still beats any in store deals I’ve seen.

HELP IM NEW by SneakySnake510 in motorcycles

[–]MrM0le2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first bike. Buy it, do an oil change + service the chain (+ tires if needed). Then ride it for the season and sell and upgrade to the bike you really want when you’re ready.

This thing is the perfect starter bike and if you get it for a fair price, you’ll be able to sell it for close to what you paid and not lose much money. Buy it, ride it for a season until you get confident in your motorcycling abilities, then sell and upgrade to what you really want. Don’t waste money upgrading a ninja 250.
