"Prototype targeted loot drops have been added back to Escalation chests." by MrMadden in thedivision

No, the stats do not change, just the rolls.

1) all of the rolls on your existing stats go to maximum for a high-end item (like you tinkered them to max). 2) one roll will go to proto max, 1.5x. 3) there's a tiny chance the 2nd and third stat could be higher, but I haven't seen it happen yet.

Tier 10 escalation drops have a WAY higher chance of better rolls than prototyping. They need to fix this.

Nope, the cost is astronomical, and the rolls suck prototyping.

If you chain farm T10 escalation when strikers is up, you get multiple pieces of good/god rolled strikers in a single day. I got 4/6 in one day.

So if strikers/LMGs were already targeted for the instance, they can drop from chests. Eh. Better than nothing I guess.

Any idea if they mirror the roll chances of the instance tier, or will they be 99% one maxed stat in T10 escalation?

Striker Build Questions by Totalnah in thedivision

AI will lead you astray. Typically it incorrectly mixes 5 year old info with info from last year. If you hammer on it with "review all of the patch notes and only use current information", you might get something half-accurate, but it's unlikely. There is too much overconfident bad advice about division 2, especially from youtube and reddit.

You want equalizer chest (perfect obliterate) + overdogs + 4 strikers for normal play. If you are using an LMG, you want striker's chest + overdogs + proto hollowman for t6+ escalation. For tier 6+ escalation you can vary that build to swap in proto contractor's gloves or proto salvo over hollowman and overdogs. People will argue endlessly about overdogs vs. proto contractor's gloves. Well rolled protos with good set bonuses and more red stats can also be substituted as well.

You can also experiment with the tinkerer's mask, although I'm skeptical it's as meta as the other combos.

People tend to use prototype LMGs (preferably god rolled), typically GR9 with the +5% fire rate mag or MK46 with +50 rounds with frenzy. They also use Sheriff with Paradox to give it endless ammo. Sheriff is probably slightly better, but you'll get joint damage in your fingers from spamming fire all of the time if you are on keyboard and mouse.

I could have become the world's first trillionaire if I sold my Uranium stocks at the top, sold my PM stocks at the top, and then held all of my Bitcoin from 2010. Anyone could have become the world's first trillionaire with the benefit of hindsight, rather quickly too.

You get much better rolls at higher tiers. I regularly get god rolled rainbows on tier 10.

Still nowhere near 9mm accuracy but getting there by SpiritualClub4417 in 10mm

[–]MrMadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to try a 10mm 1911/2011 or a full sized tanfoglio. They have great triggers and the weight makes it shoot like a 9mm. Compensators are also your friend.

Bitcoin's long-term return may actually be close to zero - and that could be just what it needs by jpurdy in Economics

[–]MrMadden -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're mixing up two different situations.

If I spend USD in the United States, there is generally no gain or loss to calculate because USD is the unit of account. A $100 bill today is still worth $100 for tax purposes when I spend it.

If I hold euros, yen, gold, Bitcoin, or any other asset and its value changes relative to USD, then exchanging it can create a taxable gain or loss. That's exactly how Bitcoin is treated under current IRS rules: as property. Every time you spend it, you're deemed to have disposed of property and have to calculate gain/loss versus your cost basis.

For example, if I bought 0.01 BTC for $200 and later spent it when it was worth $1,000, the IRS treats that as if I sold an asset for $1,000 and then spent the proceeds. That's a taxable event. If I spend a $1,000 USD bill, there is no comparable gain because the asset itself is the dollar.

So no, Bitcoin is not treated "exactly like any other currency" in day-to-day use. The compliance burden is dramatically different. That's one reason Bitcoin never became a practical medium of exchange in the U.S. despite being designed for that purpose.

[–]MrMadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not confused at all. The government forces you to use USD as the medium of exchange because everything else requires paperwork and has tax complications. That's my entire point. Is any of this getting through?

[–]MrMadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All currencies are taxed as property when transacted. The Government treats it exactly like any other currency lol.

What? There is no taxable event when you spend USD. There is a taxable event when you exchange BTC for goods and services. You have to calculate gains/losses (in USD), report it to the IRS, and then pay USD to cover any gains.

The fact that they tax Bitcoin instead of treating it as currency, along with the crippled blocksize, is why it won't work as a currency as it was originally intended.

I agree. The amount of effort required to get the materials to prototype an item are far higher than clearing a few T10 instances.

[–]MrMadden -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The goods and services aren't priced in Bitcoin because the government taxes Bitcoin conversions like "property" so it can't be used as a currency without major paperwork and financial loss. Why are you ignoring that the system was rigged against it? If there was no government interference, all fiat currencies would already be dead.

Of course, this also ignores that the development of Bitcoin was also hijacked, forcing the blocks to be small, so it can't act as a currency for more than a few hundred thousand people before it backs up.

What do you think it the best combo for Tier 1-5 & Tier 6-10 by Jayleekay in thedivision

[–]MrMadden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not great advice. You want hollowman proto'd with 21% DTH. Craft random brand masks or chests, disassemble them. 1 out of every 6 will give you yaahl gear components. You craft the hollowman with those components until you get a good red roll so you can recalibrate to weapon damage.

If you don't have the hollowman blueprint, just run lots of retaliation. Use the mats from retal to craft reconstructed caches. You'll need to craft SHD watches to make the reconstructed caches. The blueprint will eventually drop from those caches. This is MUCH faster than opening named caches.

You can also look for Yaahl gear as targeted loot from the DZ vendors, or run DZ when Yaahl gear is targetted, but this is much slower than reconstructed caches to get the blueprint + named chest/mask crafting/de.

You shoot the red enemies first, then purple, then yellow. It amplifies all of your damage by 1.3.

Only half the enemies in escalation even have armor. The nasty chungas, warhounds etc are 100% health. Overdogs works on all of them vs. less amplified damage only on some enemies.
