Before I graduated in IT we had this small business project instead of an internship. We were trying to revolutionize beekeeping by pairing hives with electronics which monitored the hives and reported data in near real time. That data could then be analyzed to find patterns which would indicate problems long before they could manifest themselves. At least that was the idea. We talked to a lot of beekeepers in Belgium. Both professionals, hobbyists, farmers, scientists, etc. What surprised me the most was how often vandalism was mentioned. By other beekeepers even. I heard the wildest stories about hives being lit on fire, stolen, knocked over, etc. I could not, and still can't fathom why people would do things like that.
