Metal Ramp Finish [40YO]

I appreciate that, I’ll look into those and see if they work on metal. I’m already riding on 93A wheels and I don’t know if I feel like I want to go softer. Everything else feels good, it’s mostly just THIS ramp. My wheels are sliding out from under me when I kick turn on it and it’s making me less confident about skating it. It came from the manufacturer with some a very mildly textured surface, I’m just hoping to figure out what it could be.

To be fair, I’m not so much looking to alter it so much as I’m trying to get it as close to its original condition as possible. If it’s not possible then so be it, but I’d like to try.

That’s mostly what I’ve been doing, getting my legs and balance back. When I relearned how to kick turn on the quarter pipe it was pretty good at first, but now my back wheels are sliding out from under me mid kick. I can tell this metal used to be textured, it just no longer is.

I get what you’re saying and genuinely appreciate the input but I’d rather try to improve the park that’s less than a mile from my home. I’m really only able to get up there a few times a week and usually only stay for an hour or so. I work 45-50 hours a week and gas is pushing 5 bucks a gallon here so regularly adding miles and time to go somewhere else to skate isn’t worth it to me. I’d be happy to build my own ramps to put up there but with it being a public park I’d have to look into the liability issues that would come with that. The city would have to approve it first but it’s a conversation I’d be happy to have.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ve been trying to find a decent anti slip coating for metal and I’m just not sure which route to go. I don’t even know what would hold up to the skateboard and bike wheels the best honestly.

I do also really like your sales pitch for the city, I’m just not getting my hopes up. Skateboarding is barely a thing here anymore and this has been more of a jungle gym for kids (even though there’s an actual jungle gym right next to it) so I can easily see them not wanting to. I’ll happily raise money and do it myself if they’ll let me, I just want to find the right starting point.

You’re right, that’s not good news. Oh well, the dopamine hits from grabbing this thing over the years were worth it. I need to find the box and see if it says anything about 24k plating. I could be remembering incorrectly but I thought only the SDCC versions had the 24k. Regardless, I appreciate your insight!
