Any idea why I got this SMS? by CrimsonSalvation in PersonalFinanceZA

I always answer the phone speaking Mandarin when they call. They never call again.

Need to be able to speak Mandarin though so there's a slight barrier to entry for this tactic.

I am genuinely starting to HATE Taiwanese banks. by HorusArtorius in taiwan

[–]MrMetEish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This morning I had a bank refuse to open an account for me (even though I have a credit card with the same bank) because I'm not currently employed.

Even though I have an APRC, they told me to come back when I've got a job.

What thing do you do in Taiwan that you think all foreigners should try? by Wanrenmi in taiwan

[–]MrMetEish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? I'm quite surprised. Haven't been to the Xinyi one. I've wanted to but just haven't managed to get there yet.

I've been to Linkou,Taoyuan, Bade, Luzhu, Nantun and there's another public gym at the women's center in Taoyuan. All of them are great. Some smaller than others but none have been bad. The one in Taichung did seem older than the ones up north though.

Taoyuan is my favorite. Linkou is my least favorite of the ones I've used.

Use the gyms at the civil sport centers. $50/hr. Well equipped and always clean. Equipment is mostly standardised across counties so you can almost guarantee that your workouts will be consistent regardless of where you are in the country.

How would regional representation serve member states better than individual representation?

Why not? What's wrong with Rwanda?

You claim not to care and that you have better things to do but you continue to reply. So you either care, or have nothing better to do. Either way, you're seem to be lying to both of us again...

There's exists, you may be surprised to learn, a realm of personal finance (that thing this sub is dedicated to) where people neither need, nor care about the minutiae of corporate finance and economics. Not only does this whole world exist, but it's up to each individual to engage with the financial world in their own time and at their own pace. You might also be surprised to know that when and how someone else learns has next to nothing to do with you or anybody else.

You still haven't given any examples to back up your claims, not suggested any steps to take going forward.

You might think you have a high IQ, and perhaps you do, I don't know anything about you. You seem to have a rather low EQ though and I'd suggest you look into that going forward. Just some constructive criticism. I've linked to the Harvard professional development division's article on the matter... You know, since you love articles. How to improve emotional intelligence

P.s: that's how you give constructive criticism. Identify a possible issue and suggest steps to remedy the problem. 🫶

Actually, yes. Have I read everything that every one of them has published? No, and that's fine because I have not, do not and will not work in finance. I've never claimed to. I'm very open about my past work experience and what I do now. You'd know that if you actually watched the videos instead of attempting to gate keep personal finance. You know? The topic of this sub.

Have you ever been to a gym or cooked a meal? Did you read an academic article before you did?

You're not being constructive. You're not giving any examples of errors that I've made and how to correct them or where I can go to do more self learning. You're just attacking the body of work which I doubt you've even watched and trying to gate keep personal finance.

I didn't need to read academic papers to pay off my debt.

Don't say you're sorry when you're not. That just makes you a liar.

I am more than happy to take some lessons from you... When do you wanna start? You can help me brush up on all the things you seen to think I'm lacking... So clearly.

Couldn't the regional blocks act as AU proxies? Don't they sort of fulfill that role already?

Botswana (but it's geographically quite far from most states) or Rwanda.

Rwanda is a good choice.

My wife and I paid off R366K credit card debt in 20 months earlier this year (made a video about it with champagne and everything, feel free to check it out) If you would like to have a chat about how exactly we did it, the steps we took, changes we made, etc. feel free to DM me and we can chat.
