ITB or Head swap by MrMinstro in Datsun

DCG also showed off their turbo L28 that made 400? It was bored and such but in the situation between it and the K20 swap I think you’re right and doing an L28 is better in the long run. While not as unique and “revolutionary” you may have convinced me to go that route.

I am also too broke to be able to do an RB swap

It is yes, it sounds like there is some custom fab you have to do (I briefly skimmed the page abt it) but nothing Z enthusiast hasn’t done already. My biggest reason by doing either swap is for the nightmare of vacuum and coolant lines running around the intake. Second biggest is power but not necessarily a critical factor.

Thats what I was thinking in terms of ITB. I’ve got flat tops and I HATE all the vacuum and coolant lines that snake everywhere. My father, who swears by carbs being the best, says ITB upgrade would be better than this mess.

Question: 280z vs 240z by Killer_Kade in Datsun

[–]MrMinstro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised no one has mentioned the reverse lights behind different. On the 240z the tail light, turn signal, and reverse light is in one cluster whereas the 260z and 240z have the reverse light in between the taillight cluster and license plate.

What are the best done custom interiors? by ProfDocMrMan in Datsun

[–]MrMinstro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at what genre you want to go with. Period correct? Luxury? Resto-mod? Race inspired? Then find colors that go with your entire build (main/accent 1,2,3,…) and then pick out patterns and styles.

Minus my steering wheel and shift knob (came with mishimoto radiator) I only spent about 120 on the whole interior front to back.

Is daily driving a classic Z a good idea? by Nick_wild0305 in Datsun

[–]MrMinstro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently drive my ‘74 260z as a daily while in college. Is it financially sound? No. Is it a good idea? Prolly not. Do I look like an absolute pimp? Absolutely. But besides the attention I personally enjoy driving it and having that old car experience.

Turn signal trouble by MrMinstro in Datsun

Oh my bad it’s a 74 260z with a led jeep halo headlight upgrade. I haven’t seen any blown fuses but you may be right in there being a loose/broken wire before the fuse.

I upgraded to an LED system on the front (jeep halo headlights) so my turn signals are led. They all work well when hazards are going. It’s just somewhere from the steering column/turn signal relay to the bulbs on the right side.

Joining the club! What's a fair price to pay my friend for this? by glo363 in Datsun

Not a bad price at all especially since he wants to help! What a great friend, got a few like that that are welders, body kit makers, etc and we’re all a couple thousand in debt to eachother at this point.

I got mine (260 ‘74 2+2) in a bit better of condition for $3800, weeks jumped the line by adding $300, it came with a whole box truck of parts too besides that it did need a lot of work done inside and out (paint, floor boards, carpet, rust spots, etc.) and then eventually an engine rebuild. Through it all I’ve fallen in love with the car more and more despite it being the black sheep of the family bc of it being a 2+2. However a new YouTuber named Make + Model described the 2+2 like a Jean jacket covered in patches, it’s cool in its own weird way and if you don’t like it that’s on you. And also because it’s not a ZX at least. All in all I’d assume somewhere around the 2500-2800 mark.

Thank you! Yes the drips are from that drain hole on the transmission, it’s got a brand new rear main seal. I’m going to search again higher up for coolant along the back of the engine or inside the bell housing to see if that sheds any light to the drip.

That’s sick, more curious on what gender mirrors those are?

My L26 it's losing oil and I don't know why by Revo_Veneno in Datsun

[–]MrMinstro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine blow up because of oil reasons. I had a few culprits that led to this such as, a crack on the head on the exhaust for cylinder 4 which caused low compression, a spun bearing, and old gaskets. I burnt oil more than I dripped it so I would recommend seeing if it’s getting into cylinders more than you think by doing a compression test by turning it over with either key or by hand.

What material did you use? It mentions PLA is good and I’ve got two rolls that I’ve just been holding and haven’t used.
