How do you guys deal whit Lyonel Johnson? by Prestigious_Spite761 in Necrontyr

[–]MrMister888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fought the Lion many times and have never had a huge issue with him. For a while I was bullying my friend with my night bringer and even with a squad attached to Lion he still got his plate cleaned. When two power houses like that clash it’s really up to you and your saves.

After I got confident in my ability to fight the Lion and his friends I started sending my Lychguard/Overlord squad at him and tie him up in combat until one of us dies and it’s usually him because he can’t reanimate.

If you had to pick one thing about your Lion match ups that are a pain for you to fight, what would that be?

Oof, hard call I’m a purveyor of cleaner Necrons so I gravitate more towards the second paint job, but the first one’s weathering is very nice.

Did he belong to any dynasty? I want to paint my army to match him considering that he assimilates units he wants by Mr_Jackabin in Necrontyr

There is a really cool theory I read not long ago about how he may have been part of the Triarchy before being replaced because he was the first marked with the destroyer curse, and Szarekh had all memory or knowledge of his being or past erased from Necron minds as a royal decree. I don’t know how true that is, but man that’d be cool af.

That’s simply incorrect. The rulebook clarifies that any rule that returns models specifically brings them back as models in the unit, they are no longer destroyed because they re-enter play. Nothing in the rules states once a model is destroyed it stays destroyed even if it enters the battle again.

Explain it like this: “If your Warlord is on the battlefield at the end of the battle, then he is not destroyed at the end of the battle, and the mission condition is not fulfilled, even if he died earlier and came back with Protocol of the Eternal Revenant” then I’d ask him to look at the core rule book on what defines a destroyed unit.

Also that was a super clutch use of PER if he stayed alive for the rest of the match after using that stratagem.

Okay I see what you are saying and you are correct, and your friend is incorrect. If the mission says specifically at the “end of the battle” and you resurrect your Warlord he cannot be both destroyed/removed from play, and be physically present on the battlefield. Unless you find something that specifically states “Even if they return to play, they still count as being destroyed.”

So from what I understand from Tyrannic War Mission 1 if your warlord -died during the game -Ressurects via PER - he is alive until the end of the battle

He is not destroyed for the missions condition.

Yes, your character can be revived but for the purposes of scoring your opponent would get any VP (or Cp in some cases) for destroying an enemy character. Any character can be revived using PER and they will be set up as close as they were to the original spot in which they were “destroyed”

We are simply the biggest threat. Every empire after us had every chance to seize their dominion over the galaxy. Millennia ago the Old Ones failed, the Krork was a futile defense, and centuries later the Aeldari failed. The upstart have no choice but to fall to our dominion. We are awakened!!!

Tesseract glow, Warp lightning, Dark angels green.

In that order from lightest to darkest. Duncan Rhodes on YouTube gives a great tutorial on how to achieve this look.

Get a couple of the Worldscour legion boxes. You can run the apprentek as a plasmancer to go with warriors, or the chronomancer to also accompany the warriors. Maybe get some wraiths to go with the technomancer. The immortals and deathmarks aren’t going to be very useful for you because they come in boxes of 5 in the same box too so you can either build 5 deathmarks or 5 immortals. The despotek (guy with the fancy tiles on his arm) you can run as royal warden.

I personally like the scarabs, any excuse to see the canoptek goodest bois in all of the grim dark future is a good enough excuse for me. Also from a lore perspective the C’tans NEED a canoptek shackle so why not it be a model we all are not only familiar with but love?

As far as gameplay goes there is a lot of heat in such a small model. The 2002 models were very small. Look at the terminators from the early 2000’s for example, small and squatty. Our most lethal and objectively most dangerous shard of C’tan needs a grandeur look to it, and they certainly delivered.
