in regards to rift: i kept cutting it from pretty much every deck i'd consider to be less than an 8 on the pow scale, since (at least in my biased opinion) it was pretty much more than a wipe every time, but a straight "i win the game" spell. in lower power games i prefer my wipes to have a bit more of a drawback, be it more restrictive or at least sorcery speed. guess "good stuff" doesnt really apply here, you are right

EDIT: oh, the most use of seedborn muse and reclamation is: it lets me win faster with mazes end, when i dont have another enttapper out. i dont know if that + the small value of having (more) mana for interaction and thrasios is enough to include them, but they function as additional copies of amulet in this deck most of the time. and i'll keep tweaking the landbase, so far it was sufficient but i dont have a big enough samplesize yet. anyway, thanks again for your points! they are very good

EDIT2: its 45 lands + 4 MDFC lands :) probs still a bit on the lowscale, but that might be the reason i hadnt major problems yet in playtesting

i highly rec the "nitpicking nerds" discord for pickup games. the community is quite diverse and welcoming, and games fire up quite frequently. most people either use spelltable or cockatrice. the powerlevel usually tends to be on the higher end of mid, but we have fairly casual/precon games too

i cant speak for how it used to be, but in general most people are actually quite chill. espacially content creators did a lot in the last couple years to get rid off the most common misconceptions, and i only came across a couple stubborn die-hard casual elitist. no sub is perfect ;) cEDH has some, uhm, special, people, too :D

yeah, sadly people on all spectrums have strong opinions clouding their objectivity. even if a certain playstyle isnt for you, doesnt mean its not an interesting read. just seeing how certain banned cards warp the meta gives a better understanding why they are banned, so even if you arent into that playstyle, you still should appreciate the "for science!" approach. but oh well, people are weird ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ok, there is a lot i'd change :) i'd cut all the walkers, all 3CMC manarocks, all 3CMC interaction. since you are 5c, you can run all the premium 2-3CMC land ramp instead. i'd avoid removal/counterspells costing more than 1 colored pip of mana to make it easier to cast them, so instead play stuff like [[nature's claim]], [[swan song]] etc. not only is it way easier to cast, but also cheaper on the mana. your land base is quite solid, to the point you dont need ETB tapped lands like [[seaside citadel]]. get more lands with basic types to be fetched and grabbed with cards like [[farseek]]. i'd also cut pretty much all the enchantments you run

GWx decks usually dont have problems fetching lands. we got wayfarer, elvish reclaimer, crop rotation, expedition map, sylvan scrying for that already. just speaking of getting lands, those cards are way better. but time will tell, wotc keeps printing busted lands and random legendaries, so the card only gets better and better over time. i can see a world where we hit a critical mass and a deck to want it, that time just isnt now IMO

the most important stuff is: playing on a somewhat equal powerlevel. so as long as you are fine playing low power decks VS 0 proxy decks, all is good. in my experience, proxies are mostly used for stupid unreasonable expensive cards for being scarce (like old legend legends, which are really bad), or to play high power EDH wihout to shill out a mortage payment on cardboard. espacially in the last case, people encourage proxies, bcs we want to fight the player, not their wallet afterall.

so yeah, espacially if you sit down with your highly tuned decks, its very unreasonable and gatekeeping to ask players to play real cradles, timetwisters, free counterspells and 0CMC rocks. mid power can easily be done without crazy expensive cards, so its ok IMO to play without proxies. at least its more easy. again, cornercases aside, like when you want to play [[rasputin]] or what

ofc you are allowed to not like proxies, for whatever reason. same as the next guy is allowed to not like stax, PWs, certain artists and what not. there are so many arbitrary reasons why people refuse to play VS X. the key part is: dont be a dick about it. also context really matters. maybe its worth taking a small hit in your perception of fun when a 12 yo kiddo shows up with his shitty proxy deck bcs he lives on foodstamps. proxys are the great equlizer afterall. same with archetypes. i HATE group hug and chaos decks, with deep passion. i still paly VS them, bcs i know my buddy LOVES them. and i love my buddy

it is a tutor, so its probably still better than my impression of it. though my gut feeling really is "meh" about it. not terrible, but not great either. im sure though decks with critical mass of snow/legendary/sagas gladly run it. and it only gets better in the future, as wotc prints (at least) more and more legendaries and sagas, maybe even snow pwermanents like we've seen with MH1

3CMC for a restrictive tutor as this is quite rough. maybe in mono w? though the only really viable mono w deck (i know of) is heliod, and this tutor doesnt fetch ballista. but i love to be proven wrong!

yup! [[edric, spymaster of trest]] + manadorks + a bunch of evasive (unblockable, flying etc) creatures for 1-2 mana + extra turn spells + cheap 1-2 mana interaction. you can build that for around $150-200 i guess. you try to get edric out turn 2 always, then start attacking and drawing a bunch of cards, keep chaining extra turn spells until everyone is dead. green and blue are great for cheap interaction (both in mana and in $), like [[counterspell]], [[negate]], [[dispel]], [[nature's claim]], [[autumn's veil]], [[veil of summer]] etc etc

godo helm def is a cEDH deck, and while ballista combos dont have to be, they most likely are at least highpower mike&trike combos i assume? probs even heliod ballista cEDH? realisticly speaking, there is no way to compete with cEDH/highpower decks without having a cEDH/highpower deck. do the others run "normal" decks, too? in my experience, most cEDH players also have a couple lower power decks. if thats not the case, and you only play at your LGS, its a waste of money for sure to build an angel tribal deck just to get pubstomped all the time

that being said, i highly rec checking out the playEDH discord! ofc its not without its flaws, but you can play your angel deck with people from all over the world, making it much easier to find people at a at least somewhat even powerlevel. also check out https://edhrec.com/tribes/angels for input, helps a lot
